Serenity - Sports & Holistic Massage Therapies

Serenity - Sports & Holistic Massage Therapies Hi, I'm Jen - a Sports and Holistic Massage Therapist offering treatments in Bishops Castle. Animals also use forms of massage in their bonding rituals.

Massage has often been viewed as a treat, or a pamper, but it is so much more. Massage therapy/body work and touch has been used throughout history as an important part of a person’s holistic health. Right from birth, babies are massaged by their mother, instilling a vital sense of comfort, healing and well-being. Hippocrates, with all his innovations in what we now know as modern medicine, recognised the importance that massage plays in a person’s health, both mentally and physically. Here are just a few ways in which massage can be beneficial to your overall health and well-being : -

Relieves pain and muscle tension. Increases circulation and blood flow. Encourages the release of red blood cells from bone marrow, which is vital in our growth and well-being. Can reduce pain and inflammation. Strengthens our immune system. Aids and encourages the transportation of lymph, which removes harmful toxins from our body. Reduces headaches and migraines. Enhances skin tone. Decreases anxiety. Treats indigestion. Reduces stress. Enhances sleeping quality. Improves joint mobility. Can improve posture. Cares for soft tissue.

Woohooo, it's the weekend! Whatever you do to earn a living will take it's toll on your body. Be it standing all day, sitting, staring at a screen, lifting or a combination- remember to give your body a break. We really weren't designed to be in one position. I'm taking my own advice and having a massage-free afternoon. Here is Willow demonstrating the joyful art of free movement last year 🥰

Lots of new snuggly buggly fleeces have arrived to keep you toasty. I've never liked couch roll, I want you all to feel comfy, warm and looked after. Massage is a sensory treatment for your nervous system and that starts with the couch.

If you work standing up for hours on end, I highly recommend getting those trotters elevated at the end of the day, or during a break. I've got half an hour before my next client and for 10 mins, this is precisely where I'm staying. Also regular leg and foot massage can ease those aching pins.

Myofascia massage balls. These little fellas are great for easing out those tight spots. I use them on my own back between treatments to keep those really sore congested areas eased up.

This is one of my favourite treatments. Often combined with massage.

Repetitive movements, old injuries, stress, a lack of hydration as well as emotional upset can lead to dense connective tissue, restriction of movement and pain.

Myofascia is the connective tissue (fascia) surrounding muscle fibres. When this becomes restricted, pain can occur.

It is a gentle treatmemt where you can actually feel those areas "melt".

A moment of calm. As soon as I walk into my treatment room, I feel better. It's a relaxing space where you don't need to be anywhere else at all. Put your phone to silent and sink into the heated couch. There's nowhere else to be and no mental demands in here 🥰 Bliss.

It's that time of year again when the weather changes, the cold and damp days sneak in and our bodies start to feel those aches and pains a bit more. Why not book in for some time out on the heated couch. Warming Orange Spice massage oils and a deeply therapeutic massage can help to loosen up those tight muscles and let your body and mind relax.

Our Story

Hello, I’m Jen - a Sports and Holistic Massage Therapist. I have treatment rooms in Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire and Newtown, Powys. I offer Sports and Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Body Massage, Reflexology, Warm Bamboo Massage, Reiki, and Indian Head Massage. I also offer Corporate Workplace based massage.

Massage has often been viewed as a treat, or a pamper, but it is so much more. Massage therapy/body work and touch has been used throughout history as an important part of a person’s holistic health. Right from birth, babies are massaged by their mother, instilling a vital sense of comfort, healing and well-being. Animals also use forms of massage in their bonding rituals. Hippocrates, with all his innovations in what we now know as modern medicine, recognised the importance that massage plays in a person’s health, both mentally and physically. Massage is a manual form of therapy. Therapists use a variety of techniques, pressure and strokes on the muscles. Some aid relaxation and stress, whilst others create more refreshing and uplifting massages. Therapists create treatment plans specifically tailored to meet the individual client's needs.

Here are just a few ways in which massage can be beneficial to your overall health and well-being : - Relieve pain and muscle tension. Increase circulation and blood flow. Encourage the release of red blood cells from bone marrow, which is vital in our growth and well-being. Can reduce pain and inflammation. Strengthen our immune system. Aid and encourage the transportation of lymph. Reduce headaches and migraines. Enhance skin tone. Decrease anxiety. Treat indigestion. Reduce stress. Enhance sleeping quality. Improve joint mobility. Can improve posture. Reduces the risk of injury in athletes. These are just a few of the benefits of regular massage. Please have a look at my website www.serenityholisticmassagetherapies.co.uk for further details about me and the treatments I offer. All treatments are carried out in a calm, relaxing and safe environment. I look forward to welcoming you into one of my lovely treatment rooms either in Bishop’s Castle or at The Courtyard in Newtown.
