There are an estimated 1 million young carers in the UK, including some as young as 5 years old.

✔️ Almost half are responsible for giving meds
✔️ 1 in 5 have to regularly get up in the night to help the person they care for
✔️ A third have to help the person get washed or dressed

These responsibilities often affect their education, with fewer than half of young carers leaving secondary school with 5 GCSEs, and less than half leaving primary school with expected standards in reading, writing, and maths.
