A friend took this photo of me 3 years ago.

We went to a Christmas show in town, it was late, the kids were tired and needed to see the stage.

So I threw my 5 year old on my shoulders and carried my 2 year old. I didn’t have to say no to them. I didn’t worry I wouldn’t be able to manage them by myself. I was fit and strong and confident that I could enjoy the show with the kids.

Good postpartum rehab goes beyond the kegels and deadlifts. It’s about build capacity so life feels easier and more enjoyable without pelvic health problems.

First run complete!!!

13 weeks postpartum and I took the oldest boy for the first run of the NHS couch to 5k programme.

This postpartum return to exercise has been way harder than any of the others.

I think the accumulation of births, having two in babies in less than 2 years, just the whole life thing has really impacted my readiness and recovery.

I have to remind myself it’s still ONLY 13 weeks, in a world where the bounce back is glorified it’s hard not to want to do everything faster.

I’ve had to delay my return to CrossFit as heavier lifts just arnt landing right and I know the intensity wouldn’t benefit me right now.

Im continuing with Strong Mums programming and learning where my capacity lies.

Rehab and recovery isn’t always a linear process but I think it’s important to celebrate the wins and keep reflecting on what works and what doesn’t. There isn’t one perfect postnatal programme.

So here’s to run 1 out of 27.

Learn how to use your breath to support your pelvic floor and core.

Practice techniques and what work for you through everyday movement patterns.

Practice key lifts used in strong mums classes and find your baseline. Gain confidence with techniques and using the fundamentals to support the lift. Practice strength training and building weight.

Recharge and refuel.

Let’s get that heart rate up and use everything you’ve practiced in a tasty little workout.

This workshop is designed to give you the time to practice and gain some confidence before starting your month of strong mums classes.
