SHOULD YOU TRAIN THE WEEK BEFORE YOUR PERIOD?? 100% YES.

Alright girls, I’m gonna say this straight…
I’ve never had a period, so I’m not gonna pretend I know exactly how you feel.

But I do work with a lot of women, and I see the same pattern every single month.

That week before?
Energy drops.
Mood dips.
Everything feels harder than it should.

And the last thing you want to do… is train.

But here’s what I tell my clients 👇

Still go.

Not to smash it.
Not to push PBs.
Just go in at 50%.

Tick the box ✔️
Move your body.
Use it for that feel-good factor.

Because every single time… they come back saying the same thing:
“I feel so much better for doing that.”

Skip it, and it usually goes the other way—
You feel worse,
You end up picking at food,
And you beat yourself up for doing nothing.

That week isn’t about being at your best.
It’s about showing up anyway.

Do it for your mood.
Do it for your head.
Do it for future you.

Chill out… you didn’t gain 2lbs of body fat overnight 👀

Let’s break it down 👇

If you’re in a calorie deficit,
+500 calories takes you back to maintenance.

At maintenance… you don’t gain weight.

So to actually gain 2lbs of body fat in 24 hours…
you’d need to eat around 7,000 calories ABOVE maintenance 🤯

That’s roughly 8,000–10,000 calories in a day for most people.

Be honest… did you really do that? 😅

What actually happened? ⬇️

🍷 A couple glasses of wine
🍝 Some extra carbs

For every gram of alcohol or carbs…
your body can hold onto 2–3g of water

➡️ That’s your “weight gain”

Not fat. Just water retention.

I had this exact conversation with a client today—
she was UNDER her calories… but still up 2lbs.

Nothing went wrong. This is normal.

So next time the scale jumps up…

Relax. Breathe. Carry on. 💪

Fat gain doesn’t happen that fast.

Staying lean all year round… while still having beers 🍻, wine 🍷 and chocolate 🍫 every single day.

No extremes. No cutting out your life. Just structure.

Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear👇

It’s not about being perfect… it’s about what you do MOST of the time.

For me, it looks like this:
🚶‍♂️ 70–90k steps every single week (this is HUGE)
🏋️‍♂️ 2–3 solid workouts
⛳️ A round of golf (easy extra movement without thinking)
⏰ Skipping breakfast Mon–Sat (keeps calories under control without feeling restricted)
🍓 Loads of fruit to stay full + keep nutrients high
💧 2–3L of water daily (most people underestimate this)
🍽️ Keeping meals simple, repeatable, and high protein

That’s it.

No magic.
No secret fat burners.
No “on/off” dieting.

Just consistency with the basics so I can enjoy life WITHOUT it showing up around my waist.

Because let’s be honest…

You don’t need to cut out weekends, alcohol or chocolate.
You just need a system that allows you to include them.

GO. FOR. IT. 🍻🍷

Say yes to the beers with the boys.
Say yes to the rosé with the girls.
Say yes to the BBQs, the dinners, the last-minute plans.

These moments?
They’re rare. They’re class. And they matter more than being “perfect” for a week.

BUT… don’t be daft about it.

Here’s how you enjoy it without undoing your progress👇

– Skip breakfast, save calories for later
– Push a couple more workouts in this week 🏋️‍♂️
– Add an extra 5–10k steps daily 🚶‍♂️
– Trim back your lunch/meals where you can

Simple.

Create room → Enjoy guilt-free → Stay on track.

Balance isn’t boring… it’s powerful.

Enjoy the sunshine while it’s here ☀️

Stop hiding behind the excuse 🚫

13 years as a coach… I’ve heard everything.

“I’m too stressed.”
“I’m going through menopause.”
“I’ve got no time.”
“I’m a single parent.”
“I can’t get to the gym.”

Cool… and I’ve coached women in all of those situations who still got results 💯

The difference?
They stopped negotiating with themselves and started taking ownership 👊

No magic. No extremes.
Just small, consistent actions that actually get done 📈

You don’t need a perfect routine.
You don’t need hours in the gym.
You don’t need everything in your life to be calm and organised.

You just need to decide that this time… you’re not quitting on yourself 🔥

Let me paint you a picture

You’ve nailed your calories all week ✅
You’ve hit 70,000 steps 👣
You’ve trained 3–4 times 🏋️‍♀️

Then weigh day comes…
And the scale doesn’t move.

The wife and kids are here for two weeks… I squeezed in a flying visit for the weekend just to switch off 😴

Second home vibes 🏡
Jam-packed as always…
🍫 plenty of chocolate
🍻 a few drinks (maybe more than a few)
🌊 sea dips
🏖️ hours on the beach
