If you keep meaning to sort out your Lasting Power of Attorney, you're not alone. Recent research from Canada Life reveals four out of five adults (78%) in the UK have not registered a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA).This document (and your will) is essential for future peace of mind.
An LPA lets a trusted person take care of your affairs and assets if you're ever unable to do so. Without it, your accounts may freeze, causing unnecessary stress and complications. ⠀
There are two types of LPA: one dealing with property and financial matters, and the other with health and welfare needs. We deal with both.
We know how busy it is - so if you're one of the 78% who haven't quite got round to it yet, get in touch today.
Plan ahead and you can rest assured.

“I don’t have much to leave, so I don’t need a will.” This is one of the biggest misconceptions I hear. A will isn’t just about money. It’s about people, possessions, pets, and even digital accounts. Think about who would make decisions if you weren’t here. A will removes that uncertainty and spares your family from stress and conflict. It’s a simple step that makes an enormous difference.

Many couples choose what’s called mirror wills. That is exactly what it sounds like - two wills that reflect each other.

Typically, each partner leaves everything to the other, and then onto children or chosen beneficiaries when the second partner dies. It’s simple, straightforward, and gives both people peace of mind that their wishes are aligned.

But it’s also important to understand the limits. A surviving partner can change their will later, which might not match what you originally agreed. That’s why we always take the time to talk through your family situation, your priorities, and the different options available.

A mirror will is often a great starting point, but the right choice is the one that genuinely protects the people you care about most.

Spooky season is full of things that give us a fright, but for many people, nothing is scarier than facing the paperwork and conversations around making a will.
It’s natural to want to avoid it but leaving it undone only creates more uncertainty for the people you love. The good news is you don’t have to do it alone. I'm here to make the process simple, clear, and much less daunting than you'd imagine.
This Hallowe'en, instead of ghosts and ghouls, tackle the fear that really matters. Putting your wishes in writing is one of the kindest things you can do for your family and I’ll help you every step of the way.

Life can change in a heartbeat. Sadly, I meet many families who never expected to be facing sudden illness or loss. A will or lasting powers of attorney don’t take away the shock, but it does take away uncertainty about what should happen next.

It’s worth pausing to consider: if the unexpected happened, would your wishes be clear?

When families come together, life can be wonderfully rich and complex. But with blended families, step-children, and second marriages, making sure everyone you love is properly provided for isn’t always straightforward.

The law doesn’t automatically reflect your wishes, and without a clear will in place, the people you care about most may not be protected in the way you intend. We regularly meet clients who are surprised at how exposed their family would be if something happened tomorrow.

A carefully drafted will ensures your estate follows your bloodline where you want it to, while also safeguarding new partners or step-children. It removes uncertainty, prevents conflict, and gives you the peace of mind that your family’s future is secure.

Many people avoid writing a will because it feels daunting or unnecessary. But the reality is, a will isn’t just a legal formality, it’s a way of giving your loved ones clarity at a difficult time.
Without one, decisions are made by the courts, not by you. I’ve seen first-hand how much lighter people feel once their will is in place. It’s about peace of mind today, not just preparation for tomorrow.

After a busy summer, we’re back into a steady rhythm of client meetings. Over the coming weeks I’ll be sharing more about wills, powers of attorney and the questions I hear most often from clients.
It’s a good moment to check in with your own planning too. Are your documents up to date, or is it something that’s been on your ‘to do’ list for far too long?
If you’d like to get it sorted, now’s a great time to book in a conversation.
