I meant to post this last week, but birthday party prep, clients and general life admin got in the way!

My first networking in nature event is this Wednesday, 10th September at West Walk, Forest of Bere from 9.30am to 11am.

If traditional networking gets you down, and you’re fed up with stuffy meeting rooms, stupid o'clock early starts and dodgy breakfasts, then why not join me?

Getting outside, breathing in the scent of the forest and experiencing some mindful prompts will not only lead to real conversations and making new connections with like-minded peeps, it will also lower your blood pressure and heart rate, improve your immune system, reduce stress and calm your whole nervous system as well as enhance clarity and creativity 🌿🌳🍃

It's like a spa day for your mind, body and soul. What’s not to love?!

It’s only £7.50. You can even treat yourself to a delicious coffee / hot drink / sweet treat from Mimi Makes - the coffee van that keeps West Walk’s walkers refreshed and nourished ☕️

Ask for the link below or pop me a message to find out more.

What a couple of spoons we are 🥄🥄 ….

Such a peaceful and mindful way to spend a rainy Saturday in the woods, made even more gorgeous with views of the South Downs 🌿🌳🍃

Have you ever had a go at spoon carving? What did you think?

My conditioning (and let’s be honest, the conditioning of most women under patriarchy) means I’ve struggled (and still do), with every single thing on this list 👇

Why is it that the moment I prioritise my own needs, set a boundary, or say no, I feel this pressure to convince others I’m still kind, loving, and compassionate?

What absolute f*ckery is that?

Kindness doesn’t disappear when we stand up for ourselves - if anything, it gets stronger, because we’re finally extending it inward too 🌿

I can’t believe how upset I am that one of our village swans was killed yesterday.

Such a beautiful part of life in Bishops Waltham, extinguished in a split second … all in a bid for the driver to arrive a minute or two earlier at their destination rather than wait for the swans to finish crossing 😢

I know the people of BW and those driving through may find it frustrating to be held up when the swans cross (it’s happened to me on numerous occasions - and usually when I’m already running late … which is most of the time 😳), but maybe they’re not here to test our patience - maybe they’re here to teach us?

What if every time we had to stop for them, we used that pause to really stop - to take a long, slow easy breath in, to let our shoulders drop, and to remember that we’re not separate from nature, but part of it?

Life moves fast enough. So maybe the swans (and any other animal we have to slow down for) are reminding us humans to slow the hell down, to take a frickin’ chill pill so we can notice where we are, and arrive at the next moment a little calmer - and hopefully keep all of nature that little bit safer too 🧡🦢💛

What if networking actually felt good for your nervous system?

Imagine leaving a networking event feeling calmer than when you arrived. No sweaty handshakes. No fake smiles. No “stand up and pitch in 30 seconds” nightmare.

Instead, you’re under trees, breathing forest air, walking side-by-side with like-minded humans. Gentle, mindful nature-based prompts sparking real connection so you can say goodbye to any awkward conversations.

This isn’t some shiny new object for me - it's an extension of what I already do: helping people reconnect with themselves and their true nature - through nature.

Now I’m bringing it to a forest near you ... and to business owners who deserve nervous-system-friendly connection.

Mindful Netwalking – Networking in Nature.

🌿 Stress-reducing forest time
🌿 Mindful prompts that get people talking
🌿 Fresh air and fresh ideas (and fresh coffee if you want from the fab Mimi Makes coffee van ☕️)

10th September | 8th October | 12th November.
Starting at 9.30am, West Walk, Hundred Acres, Forest of Bere. Only £7.50. Your business brain and your body will thank you.

Bank Holiday vibes? Not quite…

Q: Louise, what are you doing this Bank Holiday Monday?
Me: Oh, you know … just casually spending it locked in a dark room talking to myself.

Why? Because I finally did THE THING!!.

You know the one - that project you’ve been “waiting for the perfect moment” to start. The one you’ve mentally built up into a full-blown epic saga.

Mine involved creating hypnotherapy recordings for a new project I’m working on. Months of procrastafaffing (yes, that’s a word now) … and today, I stopped and made a start!

And guess what? It wasn’t half as scary, difficult, or complicated as my brain had been telling me. Who knew?

So here’s your gentle nudge:
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the work itself - it’s overcoming the story we’ve told ourselves about it.

Am I proud? Yes.
Do I also feel a bit of a t**t for leaving it this long? Absolutely.
Will I do it again? Probably. But at least I’ve started.

What’s the thing you’ve been putting off?

Anxiety can be a right drama queen 🎭

She bursts in, makes a big song and dance, and demands all your attention. The trouble is, the more you try to shove her out, the louder and more persistent she gets 📢

Instead, meet her where she is. Hold her hand. Let her know she’s safe. Remind her that your calm, capable, rational mind is in charge now - that’s when she’ll soften, quieten, and let you get on with your day ☺️

That’s exactly what The No Frills Anxiety Relief Manual helps you do - with gentle, simple, yet fast-acting techniques to calm your nervous system, settle your mind, and help you feel like you again 🙌

Perfect for you, or for someone you love who’s stuck in the anxiety spiral 😵‍💫

Something happened the other day that had me spitting feathers.

Someone I love posted a perfectly reasonable question in a closed group. It wasn't anything controversial or inflammatory - they were just looking for a bit of insight from more experienced members. Many members replied with a helpful response, but one of the replies? Downright rude. Mean. Spiteful. And absolutely unnecessary.

And it brought back memories of a couple of my own early experiences as a freshly qualified hypnotherapist.

When I first started out, I knew there were gaps in my knowledge. No amount of training covers everything. So, I joined a few hypnotherapy groups to build community, ask questions, and learn from those who’d been doing it longer.

Most of the time, I got brilliant, generous answers:
“I had a similar situation, here’s what worked …”
“There’s a great book on this …”
“Check out this CPD course …”
“If you search the group, you’ll find loads of info on that”

Helpful. Kind. Respectful.

But on a couple of occasions, in amongst the supportive replies, came the digs/passive aggressive comments such as:

“If you have to ask that question, you shouldn’t be working with clients at all.”
“What training did you do? Because that should have been covered.”
"If you don’t already know the answer to that ..."

This isn’t constructive feedback. This is unkind, patronising behaviour and a complete abuse of peer support spaces.

How the hell are newly trained therapists supposed to learn, grow, and build confidence if their peers respond with BS like this? How are they supposed to gain insights and deepen their practice if the people they’re turning to for guidance decide to publicly belittle them?

Honestly, it properly winds me up. It’s unfair. It’s judgemental. And it’s bloody narrow-minded. We all started somewhere, and no hypnotherapist (or anyone in any profession, for that matter) came out of training knowing everything.

In fact, the more I learn, the more I realise I know absolutely f*ck all haha … which is exactly why we need curiosity, openness, and kindness in our professional spaces.

Because if we can’t even offer that to each other, what business do we have offering it to our clients?

Last Thursday I finally ran my very first Mindful Smartphone Safari as an associate for Jet Black Squares in Wi******er. And despite a forecast full of thunderstorms, the weather was kind enough to let us slow down, tune out, and zoom in on the tiniest of details (as well as the bigger picture) 🌿

I loved delivering this session because it brought together so many of my skills in a way that felt easy, natural and enjoyable.

And from the two lovely reviews that were left, it seems the participants felt the same 😊

Believe it or not, there’s a lot of overlap between nature connection, hypnotherapy and mindful photography – so this feels like a really natural addition to what I offer.

If you fancy learning how your smart phone can help you slow down, be more present, and see the world differently as well as pick up a few handy tips on how to get more from it's camera, then get in touch and I’ll send you the details.

The next one’s happening on 29th August 🔗👇

Aaaannnddd - I'm going to be running free community sessions for those accessing MacMillan Cancer Services 🩷

Getting the license has been a labour of love over the last few months, involving a lot of paperwork and hoops to jump through, but it's finally happened, and I'm so happy!

I'm sure you'll agree it's such a beautiful spot to connect with nature and I cannot wait to welcome you for a session.

You can find out more info and book your sessions via the Forestry England website, via my website or pop me a message 🌿

From hot mess to hot stuff: new campaign to break the menopause taboo

PRESS RELEASE

The Hot Stuff hand fan from Fan Fatale is the brain child of Louise Bowditch from Wickham in Hampshire and aims to break the social taboo surrounding the menopause as well as providing a practical solution to the hot flush.

Louise, who is a menopause coach, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com to coincide with World Menopause Day(Thursday 18thOctober 2018) to enable more women to access the fans.

Seventy-nine per cent of women who go through the menopause will struggle with hot flushes. Yet despite huge numbers of women experiencing these and many other debilitating symptoms, the subject of the menopause is still culturally taboo causing feelings of embarrassment and shame and leaving many women wanting to hide their symptoms and suffer in silence.
