Today is National Mechanical Dry Eye Day 👁️

Dry eye isn’t always caused by screen time or environment, sometimes it’s down to how the eyes function physically. Known as mechanical dry eye, this can happen when the eyelids don’t blink fully or frequently enough, meaning tears aren’t spread properly across the eye’s surface.

Common causes can include:
💻 Long periods of screen use (we tend to blink less).
👁️ Eyelid position or movement issues.
🌬️ Air conditioning or windy environments.

If symptoms persist, it’s always worth speaking to your local independent Optician for advice and support.

What does a Monet and a Mr Whippy have to do with eyewear?

A Tuesday afternoon. A five-year-old with ice cream running down their wrist. A piece of art in a shop window that stopped us in our tracks.
