WYODH!
So after a fruitful and chatty catch-up with my now adult children, P and O, I came up with another acronym and one I think you will like. Before I reveal it, I would ask a moments silence for the death of innocence as childhood passes and the reign of adulthood continues. We all go through this rite, yet it is not without conflict internal and external, designed in that way to ensure each and every one of us expand our lives beyond our parents, beyond the first tribe and into another genetic group.
In so doing, we protect our species and increase our opportunities to spread our genes healthily.
For the lucky, our children can come back and reconnect meaningfully and for that I am eternally grateful.
Onwards, so this discussion was fun filled and energetic as most of our chats are nowadays. The process of passing down information to the next generation came up and I was asked what is it I would want to pass down to them both. A tall order you might think and I agree. We had discussed fun, love, stepmothers and fathers, jobs, careers, university and beyond.
Ultimately my advice is to WYODH. An acronym I made up this morning, reflecting on the chats of yesterday. There is truly little any following generation wants to hear from the previous as the purpose is to expand. I would argue, it is build upon the previous generation, keeping the good and ditching the bad, by whatever definition that means as long as the outcome and vision is a unifying of society, of connecting meaningfully with others and building bridges where none existed before. Creating and seeding happiness, not through spreading instant sugar loaded happiness 🤐🙈, but by building heartfelt rewarding societies that reward and nurture each other. Kind of like Trust a trader, mixed with Fair trade goods, mixed with sitting down and sharing a cup of tea. Heart, mind and soul nourishing actions that build communities as you Write Your Own Damn History. With love x
