We were delighted to participate in Nellsarโ€™s Crafty Creature Competition at Princess Christian Care Home, where our beloved Pet Corner inspired both creativity and compassion, as we made our displays from recycled materials.

Our entry: Animal Friends

Thereโ€™s been a heartwarming transformation at Princess Christian, thanks to the arrival of some very special new residents. Our Pet Corner is now home to a joyful mix of animals โ€“ two friendly chickens, Rosemary and Pepper; two gentle rabbits, Pumpkin and Truffle; Buttons, our affectionate and curious cat; Banana, the wise old tortoise; and four lovable guinea pigs, Rhubarb, Custard, Uggy, and Candy.

Each animal came from a rescue or rehoming centre and has brought their own unique charm and comfort to our Home. Whether itโ€™s collecting fresh eggs in the garden, cuddling a guinea pig in the lounge, or watching Banana explore the courtyard, these new companions have brought life, laughter, and meaningful connection to our residents.

The animals are more than just pets โ€“ they are part of our Pet Therapy programme, supporting mental and emotional well-being. Their gentle presence has helped ease anxiety, reduce loneliness, and spark joyful memories, especially for residents living with Dementia.

Inspired by these furry and feathered friends, our residents have been busy in arts and crafts sessions creating imaginative replicas of each animal using recycled materials like cardboard, egg cartons, milk bottles, wool, and glue. These colourful creations are now proudly displayed throughout our Home.

Weโ€™re also thrilled to share that we recently won an award for our Princess Christian Pet Corner, recognising the positive impact these animals have made on resident well-being, creativity, and community spirit. Our beloved animals have truly found their forever Home โ€“ and in return, theyโ€™ve brought endless comfort, companionship, and joy.

Our entry was one of the runners up in the competition and was commended for using our furry friends as inspiration. Huge thanks and well done to everyone who took part in creating our fantastic displays.

On Tuesday 15 July, a group of our residents from Princess Christian Care Home enjoyed a peaceful and memorable outing aboard a Swingbridge boat ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ. These specially designed boats offer a wonderfully inclusive experience, particularly suited to individuals with limited mobility, allowing everyone to enjoy the pleasures of being on the water in comfort and safety ๐Ÿ›Ÿ. Despite a mix of sunshine and light rain, the weather didnโ€™t dampen our spirits. Setting off from Dapdune Wharf, we cruised along the scenic River Wey on a gentle two-hour round trip. The pace was wonderfully relaxed, and the calming motion of the boat provided a real sense of well-being for everyone on board. ๐Ÿ˜Œ countryside, glimpses of local wildlife, and even a few fascinating insights into the history of the canal from the knowledgeable crew. Refreshments were served on board, adding a touch of comfort and making the day feel that little bit more special. It was a truly uplifting outing that brought lots of conversation and a welcome change of scenery for everyone. ๐Ÿซก๐Ÿ™Œ

At Princess Christian Care Home, our weekly Cooking Club is a wonderfully friendly and social activity that brings everyone together. Our residents had great fun recently, making chocolate chip cookies ๐Ÿช led by our wonderful Chef Cristian ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ โ€“ a treat for the senses as they mixed, shaped, and rolled the delicious dough. It was a social and hands-on experience that brought joy through a shared purpose. The session was made even more special by the company of students from our local Winston Churchill School who joined us for their work experience. There was plenty of laughter and chatter as we worked โ€“ and of course, the best part was sampling the freshly baked cookies! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜‹

On Wednesday 2 July, Christine, our Community Relations Manager, and Maria, our Well-Being Manager, represented Princess Christian Care Home during a visit to Dramatize, our local Community Centre. Their goal was to connect with local residents and share the many fantastic services and opportunities we offer at our Home. Maria provided complimentary hand massages and manicures ๐Ÿ’… creating a warm and welcoming experience while chatting with members of the community about our care offerings. Meanwhile, Christine enjoyed friendly conversations over cups of tea โ˜•๏ธ sharing information about our engaging activities, facilities, and compassionate care. The visit was so well received that the pair have been invited back again next week โ€” and theyโ€™re looking forward to it! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

On Friday 27 June at our Princess Christian Care Home Cooking Club, we enjoyed making our residents' favourite treat on our portable hob - delicious pancakes ๐Ÿฅž๐Ÿ˜‹. We had two frying pans on the go at once, gently browning the pancakes. These were then filled with a tempting choice of Nutella, different jams, or the classic lemon and sugar combination by our residents, before being rolled and enjoyed. The aroma of the pancakes cooking and the scrumptious fillings made this a wonderful sensory experience for everyone - needless to say there were lots of empty plates! ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œ

On Thursday 26 June we had a go at making enrichment toys for our pets here at Princess Christian Care Home, which was such a fun and rewarding activity ๐Ÿคฉ. We used a variety of mixed vegetables including carrots, swede, tomatoes, lettuce, and cucumber to create stimulating and healthy treats ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ…๐Ÿฅ’. Some of the vegetables were threaded onto little washing lines, while others were placed inside toilet roll pouches to encourage natural foraging behaviour. It was a great way to combine creativity with care, helping to keep our pets mentally and physically active - and as you can see, our treats really did go down a treat! ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿน๐Ÿ“

Talented Chef Assistant Eduard has a flare for making wonderful puddings and his talent has been put to good use at Princess Christian Care Home to bring regular sweet treats to their residents, designed to tempt all tastebuds. ๐Ÿ˜‹ For the past few years, the Home has offered two dessert trolleys during their lunchtime service, which are walked to residents after their main course, so they can get a good look at the delicious treats on offer. This is a wonderful way to involve residents in making choices themselves; the trolleys are always much anticipated! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ The flavours and variety of Eduardโ€™s creations range from creamy panna cotta, tangy lemon mousse, and colourful rainbow jellies to beautiful cheesecakes, trifles, pavlovas, and coffee sponge cakes. ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฅฎ๐ŸŒˆ Always fresh and beautifully presented, there's something for everyone โœ…. Head Chef Cosmin has created a special menu which showcases these wonderful dessert options. He is incredibly proud of Eduard's commitment to taste, presentation, and quality, commenting: "Eduard is a very ambitious guy; our future Chef in training. He is very helpful, a real team player, and ready to help when needed. We are always delighted with his beautiful puddings โ€“ they are certainly a huge hit with our residents!" ๐Ÿ™Œ

Our Bisley garden has recently undergone a major redesign here at Princess Christian Care Home, and we are so delighted with this gorgeous new space for our residents, families and teams ๐Ÿชป. This week we thought we would take advantage of the wonderful new easy-access raised flower beds that were put in as part of the design and a couple of our residents helped by aerating the soil and planting a variety of mixed sweet pea seeds ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’œ. Fingers crossed they will be shooting up by the time of our summer party next month, we'll be keeping a keen eye on them! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ‘€

Last Wednesday, we welcomed our monthly visitors from our Bus Buddies community here at Princess Christian Care Home. Our wonderful Maria was on hand, kindly painting nails ๐Ÿ’… and treating everyone to relaxing hand massages ๐Ÿ˜Œ. Afterwards, the incredibly talented Andy entertained us with a selection of popular songs spanning from the 1๏ธโƒฃ9๏ธโƒฃ4๏ธโƒฃ0๏ธโƒฃs onwards; his lively style and personality engaging with our ladies and gents. We couldn't resist a dance! ๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽถ It was a particularly hot day, so we'd prepared fresh fruit smoothies, mocktails, and fruit salad to help keep everyone cool and refreshed ๐Ÿฅค๐ŸงŠ. It was another wonderful chance to spend time with our local friends, who enjoyed socialising with our residents and team members. Thank you to them all for coming, we always look forward to catching up! ๐Ÿงก
