Loved watching Murph in action yesterday.

He’s come to the end of his 28 Day Trial at Nudge and he’s really made the most of it.

He got in touch with us because he’s got surgery scheduled on both ankles in September and knows he needs to be in his best shape to speed up his recovery.

Having played rugby throughout his 20’s he’s got a few old injuries to work around which have been magnified more recent years by his sedentary job.

Murph has thrown himself into everything we offer at Nudge with a combo of small group PT, hybrid sessions and following the training plan outside of Nudge.

He even made a commitment to have slightly less beer which is mega given his love of beer and the more recent Bank Holiday Weekends!

He’s now keeping it going with our monthly membership.

If you’re an ex-rugby player with a few creaky joints, and you miss that team buzz from training with mates, give us a shout.

There’s really no new ideas in fitness. Here’s an article I wrote on breathing 10 years ago.

The current trend for wearing tape over your mouth for sleeping and doing massive Wim Hof style breathing is interesting, but I think they overlook the day-to-day basics.

A massive study by Lauersen et al. (2014) found that stretching reduces injury risk by just 4%, while strength training slashes it by 69%.

I’d never discourage someone from stretching, but how many people spend ages stretching when injured or before a workout, but skip the strength work that actually makes them more resilient?

I thought Tabs name was familiar when she came in for her first session

She’s good friends with Amanda who I’ve worked with on and off for more than 15 years

She always found gyms overwhelming and intimidating - she really struggled being around so many people

The initial driver for tabs was watching her aging mother. She saw the struggles she faced and wanted to start doing the right things now to live a happy independent life into old age

With scoliosis and dyspraxia she had hesitations over whether what we do at Nudge would be safe and doable
