As we observe Autism Awareness Month this April, we wanted to take a moment to highlight the significance of this important initiative and how we can contribute to fostering a more inclusive and understanding environment.

Autism Awareness Month aims to increase public understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), promote acceptance, and support individuals and families affected by autism. Raising awareness helps dispel myths, reduce stigma, and encourages us all to recognize the diverse ways in which autism manifests.

Understanding and acceptance in all workplaces can make a meaningful difference. It promotes an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Simple actions like being patient, offering accommodations, or simply educating ourselves about autism can enhance our colleagues' comfort and confidence.

We encourage everyone to participate in upcoming activities and initiatives during this month, such as your local community events that could be happening. Together, we can contribute to a culture of empathy and inclusivity.

For those of you that don’t know, March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth in the UK, yet so many are still unaware of the disease and its impact. The theme for Endometriosis Action Month 2025 is ‘Endometriosis Explained’, exploring both how endometriosis must be better understood by the general public and better explained to patients by all healthcare practitioners.

Symptoms can vary, but may include:

· Chronic pelvic pain
· Heavy or painful periods
· Pain during s*x
· Fatigue
· Fertility issues
· Painful bowel movements
· Constipation or diarrhoea
· Iron deficiency
· Pain in other areas of the body

The simple fact is that not enough people know what endometriosis is - meaning those affected by the disease often find themselves having to constantly explain themselves - to friends, family, their employer and work colleagues, and even healthcare practitioners.

For any Priory members of staff, please remember that you can join any of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion networks for any additional support or just a chance to talk to others who may be going through the same thing.

Yesterday at Kemple View, we celebrated Eid with all our staff and service users.

Everyone was invited to the Eid meal, prepared by our hard working Catering Team. Our waiters and waitresses for the event were our OT and Working Well Teams.

Staff and service users enjoyed a selection of starters, curries, rice, naan bread, a selection of chutneys and poppadom’s, followed by spicy rice pudding.

The dining room was full and everyone commented how much they enjoyed their meals. Thanks go to our amazing Catering Team for providing us with delicious home cooked curries and accompaniments. Happy Eid-Ul-Fitr 2026.

Social Work within a Forensic Setting

Our duty is to keep our patients and the public safe. On occasion social workers need to notify other agencies in relation to patients when they are away from site.

In some cases it is necessary to share the safeguards and procedures we have in place to demonstrate how robustly we assess risk.

Social Work within Mental Health Services

Mental health social work is integrated across various settings, including local authorities, NHS trusts, and other agencies, such as the police.

Social workers play a key role in the mental health landscape, addressing both immediate needs and the long-term well-being of our patients alongside other disciplines and professionals.

At Kemple View, this week we are celebrating Social Work week which runs from 16th – 20th March 2026. Social workers help people feel heard, get the support they need, and find ways to solve problems.

The theme for 2026 reminds us that many problems in society, like inequality, conflict and division, cannot be solved alone. Social workers help bring people together, rebuild trust, and make positive changes in communities.
