For all kinds of reasons, some of us struggle more with poor mental health at this time of year.

If your mental health gets worse and you need support, please know that help is always available to people who need it in Blackburn with Darwen.

Look out for these bright orange Get Help Now stickers around our borough, signposting people to urgent support.

The eye-catching stickers have a QR code that takes people to the Be Well BwD website with details of all the support available locally and nationally.

Whether someone is experiencing a mental health crisis, issues with substance use, gambling that’s severely affecting their health, or problems with addiction, help is available.

By scanning the Get Help Now QR code, they can find the right support for them.

💚 Celebrating SMART Recovery 💚

This year we established our SMART group at Spark. This mutual aid group provides connection, peer support and helps people to develop a lifestyle that supports sustainable recovery.

Yesterday evening was their Christmas celebration, where we saw the bonds and connections that have formed as this group has developed. It was great to see the smiles and support for each other in the room 🫶

A great day at the BwD Roots Forum today where we provided service awareness and harm reduction support.

This month’s forum theme was Coping at Christmas & Boundaries.

We were proud to see one of our team do a lived experience share 🧡🧡 followed by workshop from Red Rose Recovery about boundaries and how important these are. The day ended with Christmas Quiz 🎅🏻

Today our DEAP group have been reflecting on their relationship with substances and have shared their thoughts in Goodbye to Drugs letters 🖊️

This is a session in our community rehab programme which aims to allow clients say goodbye to substances and look ahead to their future lives without the negative consequences drugs have caused.

We are pleased to be able to share these and hope these can provide some inspiration to others 🌟

Some of our team will be out over the weekend in Darwen to provide advice and support if you or a loved one needs it. It may be cold and wet but they can offer a safe and friendly space if you need support whilst out Friday or Saturday evening 🧡

We had a great day at Roots community forum last week 😄

The theme was alcohol related harms, and we were pleased to be on hand to provide harm reduction advice and resources.

We saw a fantastic presentation from Carers service Addiction support group and learned how they have weekly groups, trips out and time spent on how to nurture the families and carers own wellbeing.

This week we have been supporting white ribbon events to mark the 16 days of activism of this campaign. The aim of this campaign is to educate and raise awareness to end violence against women and girls.

We attended a workshop at the 180 project which was educational, emotive and thought provoking for all. It was great to be able to connect with the team and take part in the women’s workout too.

In our Spark women’s group this week, we reflected with clients who contributed to making some creative collages to share their reflections around the White Ribbon campaign and its key messages

🌟 👩‍🎓 Today we celebrated one of our clients who has graduated DEAP 👩‍🎓 🌟

It was wonderful to hear her share the journey through recovery with the group, and so special to hear all the kind words people had to say in the room. Zoe has worked so hard and has made a huge impact on those around her.
