A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr Walid from Blakewater Healthcare Surgery to Beardwood Hospital.

Collaborations like this aren’t always common - but they’re incredibly valuable. By opening our doors to local GPs, we’re strengthening the bridge between primary and secondary care, helping to streamline pathways and ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.

During his visit, Dr Walid gained a close-up look at care within the independent healthcare sector, including treatments like Arthrosamid®, and how our specialist pathways support timely assessment, diagnostics and treatment.

It was also a reflective moment for Mr Syed Awais Bokhari, who shared the privilege he feels supporting patients through life-changing procedures, alongside a team dedicated to truly personalised care.

A huge thank you to Dr Walid for taking the time to connect - and to our teams at Beardwood for continuing to champion partnership working.

Honouring a Remarkable 24-Year Career. As a New Era Begins, A Legacy Continues.

After an incredible 24 years in healthcare, Elizabeth Barker, our Clinical Services Manager for Imaging, begins her well-deserved retirement. To recognise everything she’s contributed, we’re proud to share that our MRI & CT department will now be named The Barker Diagnostic Suite - a lasting tribute to her commitment, expertise, and the standards of care she helped shape.

We couldn’t let this moment pass without celebrating the huge impact she’s had on our people, our services, and the patients we care for every day.

Over her career, Elizabeth has brought her leadership and compassion to several hospitals across our region, including Lancaster Private Hospital, and Gisburne Park Hospital.

Her journey has spanned roles across Director of Operations, Director of Clinical Services, Clinical Services Manager for Outpatients, and Imaging - where she mentored colleagues, championed innovation, and helped drive improvements across multiple hospitals.

A true pioneer within Circle Health Group, she championed Beardwood’s first reporting radiographer - a milestone that enhanced patient access and strengthened our diagnostic capability.

But beyond her achievements, what people remember most is her expertise, her guidance, and her unwavering commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care - values that continue to define Beardwood today.

Thank you, Elizabeth. Your legacy lives on in the people you’ve supported, the services you’ve shaped, and now in The Barker Diagnostic Suite.
