What symptoms should you look out for? In this video, Mr Jonathan Ash explains some of the most common signs of endometriosis.

Symptoms can vary from person to person, but often include:
• Painful or heavy periods
• Ongoing pelvic pain
• Pain during or after s*x
• Extreme fatigue
• Difficulty getting pregnant

Many women are told this is just “part of having periods”, but severe or persistent pain isn’t something you should have to live with.

If symptoms are affecting your day-to-day life, it may be worth speaking to a specialist. Start your journey with Mr Ash today: https://shorturl.at/O7mVv

We’ve sat down with our Consultant Gynaecologist, Mr Jonathan Ash, to answer some of the most common questions about endometriosis and help explain what it really means.

In this first video, he talks about what endometriosis actually is.

Endometriosis happens when tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside the uterus. This tissue can respond to hormones just like the womb lining does, which may lead to inflammation, pain and sometimes scarring.

It’s a common condition, affecting around 1 in 10 women - yet many people live with symptoms for years before getting answers.

Understanding the condition is the first step towards finding the right support.

Walking brings people together, keeps communities active, and connects us to the outdoors - something the Clitheroe Ramblers champion every day.

In partnership with the group, we were pleased to host an informative evening dedicated to helping local walking enthusiasts stay active and injury-free.

Mr Richard Boden, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, shared expert advice on the most common injuries faced by walkers in our community. From strains and sprains to ongoing joint problems, the session focused on recognising early warning signs, preventing injury, and understanding the latest treatment options available.

Members of the Clitheroe Ramblers also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn practical ways to protect their knees, hips and ankles - helping them continue enjoying the walks they love with confidence.

If walking injuries, joint pain or persistent discomfort are starting to hold you back, support is available at Beardwood Hospital. We're proud to support our community - one event at a time.

Do your periods stop you in your tracks? Make you cancel plans? Miss work? Push through pain you’ve been told is “normal”?

It might not be “just a bad period.”

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women in the UK, and for many, it takes years to get answers. It can cause ongoing pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, exhaustion and even fertility challenges.

If something doesn’t feel right, trust that instinct. You don’t have to just put up with it.

This month, we’re encouraging open conversations about period pain -because being heard is the first step toward getting the right support.
