Yesterday we gathered at the fernhurst, bolton road Blackburn to create further ripples in su***de prevention and intervention. We spent the morning participating in SafeTALK ( su***de alertness for everyone ) training , one of Living Works world leading qualifications in su***de intervention.
Delegates from across all demographics across Blackburn with Darwen were able to access this fully funded training and had the option to become Orange Button Community Scheme members due to funding by BwD Council / Public Health who have been authentic supporters in community empowerment and the efficacy of training for many years
Many thanks to the beautiful delegates and all who made this happen . Huge shout out to The Fernhurst for being such generous hosts
* there is another fully funded SafeTALK on the 25th - Saturday - from 1pm . A handful of spaces are still available .
* Book via the link below or email dawn.h.mentalhealth@gmail.com

A powerful day culminating in an afternoon focusing around the orange button community scheme and su***de prevention and intervention across Blackburn with Darwen ๐ŸŸ ๐Ÿ’›
The ICB have listened to feedback and created a new and improved OBCS packs, so today I dropped off replacement packs with two men who have led the way in su***de prevention - particularly in Darwen for many years . Pictured is Mark Dixon, who attended safeTALK some years ago and is gearing up to attend his refresher very soon . Counsellor Brian Taylor had recently attended ASIST and is a safeTALK advocate and passionate OBCS advocate .
If you are interested in โ€œ waking the talk โ€œ and joining the community revolution around su***de prevention - see details within the post of the next fully funded training available for anyone aged over 15 who lives , volunteers, is in education or works across Blackburn with Darwen .

A fabulous day spent in Blackburn with ( felt like 50,000) children and young people at a wellbeing event . Similar to Tuesdays event - it was such a privilege to speak and hear from students about their thoughts on mental health and wellbeing . Many discussions today around gender identity, sexuality and culture. Wonderful to make new relationships with partner organisations and reconnect with some of my favourites ๐Ÿ’›

As part of Exploitation Week, Blackburn with Darwen Family Help Engage Team brought together agencies from across the borough to shine a spotlight on key issues facing young people today. ๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Students were supported to learn who they can go to and how they can access support, and the services available to help. ๐Ÿ“–

Building Safer Futures was hosted by Darwen Vale High School and Witton Park Academy, with approximately 1350 students across all year groups, accessing the event. ๐Ÿซ

Gorgeous day today spent with 53,000 children and young people ( felt like ) at .vale school ๐Ÿ’›a huge thank you to the school, organisers, fellow marketplace holders and especially to the children and young people for making it such a powerful event .
It was wonderful to hear how many know about amazing organisations such as and a privilege to share resources about all the local and national services with those who werenโ€™t .
I was particularly touched to see how many young men visited the stand and spoke to me about their commitment to reducing violence against women and girls . A day to fill your soul with hope and optimism ๐Ÿ’›
