This is the truth. I know this because as a pharmacist we learnt very little about nutrition too! It's beyond me because so many health conditions have a direct link to diet and lifestyle. Blood pressure, diabetes, skin conditions etc.
This is why one of the best things you can do to help yourself is start by really focusing on lifestyle and diet changes. Doesn't have to be massive. Just small changes that you can be consistent with. And build up from there. Hydration is also key. If you're not having your 8 glasses of water a day then that's a good starting point. You'll automatically see a difference!
We have so many nutritional benefits in the natural foods that are available to us, and so many non medical options we can exhaust before we start medical treatment. Don't just go to the Doctor and expect your hypertension to magically disappear. They actually don't work to treat your hypertension, only manage it. The only way to treat it with medications is by making lifestyle changes alongside. Go figure. Don't forget Medicines have therapeutic effects as well negative effects. It's all about the risk benefit ratio and whether the benefit of taking a medication will outweigh the risk of other effects and problems.
Most of these conditions are REVERSIBLE. And by implementing the correct things in your life you could be healthy again! Get yourself a dietitian, a health coach.. Whatever that will help. But the answers are right in front of you.
A leading GP estimated that up to 80% of his patients had conditions linked to lifestyle and diet.
