Being specific with your referral requests is a proven and effective strategy.

There have been so many times where we have seen someone ask for a specific person and/or company, and then one of our members says “I know them!”

We’ve got an incidence here however where 2 of our members asked for the same introduction, but to a business we do not know (yet) - Crown Estates & Lettings, based in Blackburn.

Glenn Wallis, our resident Conveyancing Solicitor, would like to speak to them about working together to help their clients with the legal requirements around buying and selling their property.

Jacob McHugh, our Gas Engineer, works with lettings agents as their go-to contact for all of their boiler servincing.

A glowing testimonial given at our meeting year day, from our electrician, Lee, to our gas engineer and plumber, Jacob 😊👍🏻

These two have started passing quite a few jobs between each other - which is what it’s all about 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Another impressive feature presentation from too. His business ProLek Electrical has been doing some great work on bespoke lighting and other electrical systems in new build homes - from design right through to installation.

He also spends a fair bit of time sorting out the mess left behind by some absolute cowboys …. Going cheap doesn’t pay in this game, and can be highly dangerous; like the example he gave of some shoddy work that left a woman with her house burned to the ground 😔

More than ever, businesses are giving thought and focus on what they can do in support of charitable causes. Whether that’s through their own altruism, or the rise and publicity of CSR causes, relationships and projects.

Here at Vista, we have a fantastic local charity, PAC - Positive Action in the Community who are represented by the one and only Leroy Philbrook Pac at our meetings each week.

PAC are a local registered charity with the vision to have a community that gives the greatest opportunity for a safe, fulfilled and aspirational life, free from, homelessness, domestic abuse and poor mental health.

To achieve this they deliver a number of projects, and have facilities for providing their services, in both Pendle and Rossendale.

They are looking for support from the local business community. From business owners and leaders who want to make a difference in the area in which they live and operate.

A festive end to the year with an epic Christmas quiz, courtesy of quizmaster Tom Fairburn! 📝

Not often the music round is the quizmaster (trying) to sing the songs themselves 😂😂😂

When the dust settled it was a 44-44 tied score between the two teams … which meant a tiebreaker … which both teams got wrong, but the winning team was closest to 😅

A couple of weeks off now over Xmas and New Year; then we’re looking forward to a successful 2024 for all of our team.

Our members use their card and get discounts from their combined bills for Gas, Electric, Broadband, Mobile, Home Insurance - as well as the bundle discount for grouping those services together 💰

We’ve got a few new members in our ranks, and this week Jack Fairburn scooped our best presentation prize. He remembered (got told by Tom 😅)the golden rule of a networking 60 seconds - ask for a specific introduction!

Jack and his business - JWF powerwashing & window cleaning service - are looking to increase their commercial window cleaning contracts, and would love to speak to the facilities manager at Time Technology Park, Simonstone, to speak with them about their window cleaning requirements and to provide a quote.

Lee from ProLek Electrical won the presentation award last week, telling us about the great contract that he’s just won, for work on a very large domestic project.

He’s on the lookout for Electrician’s for this initial job - starting in a weeks time - lasting 4 weeks, as well as 3 future jobs of a similar nature in the near future.

If you are a fully qualified Electrician, with your own transport, and can read electrical drawings, Lee would love to have a chat with you.
