Before you know it, it will be November when I'm offering my next online workshop. This "yoga for" course is about becoming more self-aware and practice resourced in the integrated wisdom and tools of yoga psychology. Our first responsibility is being ourselves - learning the lessons and offering the gifts we came into life to experience, master, and share. There are many steps in this life-long journey. The sangha and the teachings help us move in a positive direction. This elective module for the The Yoga Therapy Institute yoga therapy course is open to dedicated yoga practitioners, yoga teachers, and yoga therapists. Check it out and see if you want to join in.

It's not often we get to observe into the intimate world of a yoga therapy session. And yet, being able to observe is one of the richest ways to learn. Each encounter is unique based on the needs and conditions of the person and the interpersonal interaction AND there are commonalities in the way we gather information to identify how to offer assistance that's useful. I've benefited from watching my peers conduct online sessions through the Minded Institute training forum. Now it's my turn to make an offering. If you'd like a chance to observe, here's the link.

Observing experts in your field is essential practice. Join our online yoga therapy observation with Lisa Kaley-Isley focusing on anxiety.

Hibernation is over, spring is beginning, some parts of the world are opening, others re-closing, and through all the external shifts we have our own internal waves of feeling to ride. I can say through it all having my yoga practice and community continue to help me immensely. This is my first public workshop offering since before lockdown and it was the workshop I had just finished teaching when lockdown began. It feels full circle but arriving back in a whole new place. This teaching will be enriched with all I've learned in the last year about living with myself and supporting others to do the same. Follow the link to learn more and register to join us to grow along with the season.

This article from the Atlantic is long and good. So worth the read. It details and summarizes what I am hearing from folks and reading as well about some forms of long covid, the immune system, and dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system. Good prevention and useful intervention is to breath: slow, steady, deep into the belly with the diaphragm. Just like my yoga therapy teacher Gary Kraftsow said: Breath consciously, smoothly, regularly for 5 minutes a day and it will change your life. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2021/04/unlocking-the-mysteries-of-long-covid/618076/?fbclid=IwAR2uecbzW7JpHXwYuGSexokWmrksBEgPckEy_e2WletyuTKWTEwnKyDvfuY

The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) has a new look to their website and a new format for the annual conference. https://conferences.iayt.org/ Yes, it's going to be online! I'll miss the gathering of us all packed in rooms together to practice, chant, and learn. However, I have also learned that this virtual way of being together has benefits - some of you may be able to join who would not otherwise attend because of the time and travel costs. The conference is less expensive online and you can get access to all the speakers/events for one year. I've signed up. There are some really excellent speakers on offer. It's one of my happy places - join in?

IAYT hosts two conferences each year: the Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research (SYTAR) and Symposium on Yoga Research (SYR).
