Odd Socks Day forms part of Anti-Bullying Week. Anti-Bullying Week 2025 is happening from Monday 10th – Friday 14th November and has the theme ‘Power for Good’. It is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which is based at the National Children’s Bureau.

As we light up the sky tonight, let’s remember to celebrate safely and responsibly. Fireworks are beautiful, but they can also be overwhelming for some people, especially those with learning disabilities or mental health challenges. Loud noises and bright flashes can trigger anxiety, stress, or sensory overload.

Here’s how we can support everyone tonight:
💛 Be mindful of noise – Give neighbours, friends, and family a heads-up if you’re setting off fireworks.
💛 Create quiet spaces – If you know someone who may feel anxious, help them find a calm, safe place away from the noise.
💛 Offer reassurance – A little understanding and patience can make a big difference.
💛 Check-in – Reach out to those who may feel vulnerable tonight; a simple message can help them feel included and safe.

Let’s make this Firework Night joyful, safe, and inclusive for all. Enjoy the sparks, the colours, and the magic, and let’s spread kindness as brightly as the fireworks!

One of our supported people from the North loves getting her nails done it’s her little moment of self-care. This time, she went all out for her Halloween Zumba party!

With her Halloween Zumba party coming up, she wanted something fun and spooky. She chose black nails with silver glitter and two tiny spiders painted on her fingers. Now she’s ready to dance, sparkle, and maybe scare a few people on the dance floor.

When she got home, she couldn’t stop admiring them. They shimmered perfectly under the light. She smiled, already imagining how good they’d look when she shows them off to everyone.

🎃✨ Halloween is a time for fun and creativity but for some, it can also be overwhelming. People with autism, learning disabilities, or mental health challenges may find loud noises, crowds, or unexpected surprises stressful.

Here’s how we can make Halloween more inclusive and supportive:
🎃 Provide quiet or low-stimulation spaces during events.
🎃 Offer predictable routines and explain activities beforehand.
🎃 Respect personal comfort levels with costumes, masks, or social interactions.
🎃 Encourage alternative ways to participate, like sensory-friendly treats or crafts.
🎃 Check in with friends or family who may feel anxious or overwhelmed.

One of our supported people from the North services got invited to a fancy dress party and decided to go as The Greatest Showman. But of course… he couldn’t choose just one outfit. He’s outfits of choice were, the classic red tailcoat, top hat, and cane pure ringmaster vibes then a bold, gold sparkly blazer that practically demanded the spotlight

So, what did he do?
He wore both. Naturally.
He made a grand entrance in the full red coat look twirling his cane, tipping his hat, totally owning the room. Everyone loved it. Then, halfway through the night, he pulled the ultimate move.
Disappeared for a few minutes…and came back in the gold blazer, ready to party the rest of the evening.

From that point on, it was all laughs, dancing, and catching up with friends. He was everywhere on the dancefloor, chatting away, posing for pics, and just soaking up the good vibes.

Two outfits, one party, and a night full of great people, great music, and unforgettable fun.
Because when you're The Greatest Showman, you go all in.

A supported person from our North services was having a wonderful time at the Opera House’s Winter Gardens Theatre, watching one of their favourite films turned into a musical… The Bodyguard!

After a long week in hospital, they were finally discharged just in time to make it to the show. They loved every moment the singing, the dancing, and the energy of the actors on stage. They enjoyed it so much that they even found themselves dancing in the aisle!

During the break, the supported person treated themselves to a delicious chocolate chip ice cream, savouring every bite as they reflected on the joy of the performance.

Here is Sean from our North Service on he’s 28th birthday out for lunch with his friends from the local walking group. The walking group go on weekly long walks around many different areas of Blackpool and surrounding areas. This week they went on a walk then stopped of for a surprise birthday lunch for Sean, in which they gifted Sean with some birthday cards and goodies.
