✨ Little Stars Playgroup was back in business this week after a short closure of the centre due to roof repairs, and we wasted no time at all to get back into the swing of things ✨

📕 We started with a classic story, 'The Enormous Turnip' and each child received a copy of the book to take home, thanks to National Literacy Trust in Blackpool in Blackpool 📕

🎨 The children also had some fun swapping out their usual paint brushes for root vegetables to paint with today at the craft table 🎨

💡 We love visitors at Little Stars and this week we were lucky to be visited by The Green Doctor, who shared freebies and advice on how to keep our homes warm and economical 💡

Birds update 🐦

The birds nesting in the roof of our community centre are safe.

As you may know, we had to close the community centre after a roof inspection found some loose tiles. Some had come down during recent strong winds, so we acted quickly to keep people safe and prevent further damage.

During these checks, we also found a bird’s nest at the front of the building.

Scaffolding is now up around the building to protect passers‑by and allow repairs to be done. However, no repair work will take place near the nest until the baby birds have grown and safely flown away.

The contractors are aware of the nest and are keeping a close eye on it. The birds are doing well and can be seen flying in and out each day ❤️ Work is continuing on other parts of the building for now.

Good news! The scaffolding will be arriving on Monday and once in place, we will reopen on Tuesday 5th May.

Update: The centre had to close due to urgent works to the roof. Work will commence next week and we hope to reopen then.

CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Claremont Park Community Centre will be closed for the foreseeable future.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our community. We will keep you updated with any progress and share a reopening date as soon as possible.

The Mental Wellbeing Club with Caroline Hargreaves is coming to Claremont Park Community Centre next week.

Starting Wednesday 22nd April then running fortnightly 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Our focus is Mental Wellbeing to support you in everyday life with bottom up, trauma informed, nervous system led support.

It’s a safe place to land, learn and reconnect.

The session follows our ABC flow designed to build safety, capacity and connection.

A - Arrive and Settle
B - Build Capacity
C - Connect, Chat and Integrate

It’s a place for you to get early and accessible support, a place where you regulate rather than escalate and be part of a consistent safe space you can return to.

✨ This week at Little Stars we enjoyed a lovely story called 'Paper Dolls' by Julia Donaldson. It's a very catchy story and I highly recommend it✨

📕 On the craft table, we cut out our own string of paper dolls and decorated them to our liking. This is a nice and simple craft that everyone can do at home with minimal resources 📕

🥗 Then, we all enjoyed a nice warming lunch of jacket potatoes, beans and fruit 🥗
