Just popping on here to talk
about purging ….
😱😱😱😱
The struggle is real … some times when you change products or you start using retinol or other products which help cell turn over …..
Here’s how it works:
• Why it happens: Retinol speeds up cell turnover, which can bring clogged pores and underlying breakouts to the surface faster than usual.
• What it looks like: Small pimples, whiteheads, or blackheads in areas where you usually break out.
• How long it lasts: Typically 2–6 weeks. If it goes beyond that, or if you notice widespread irritation (redness, burning, flaking), it might be a reaction instead of purging.
• What helps:
• Start slowly (2–3 nights a week).
• Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
• Avoid layering with too many other actives (like AHAs, BHAs, or benzoyl peroxide) at first.
• Always wear sunscreen — retinol makes your skin more sun-sensitive.
🧡If breakouts are severe, painful, or not improving after 6 weeks, it’s a good idea to check in with a dermatologist.
2 rules …
1 - stick with it
2 don’t squeeze the spots
