Today, on Mother’s Day, we want to take a moment to celebrate all mothers and mother figures in our community.
Over the past few days, we’ve been proud to share the stories of some of the wonderful mums within our team – women who bring kindness, patience, and compassion not only to their own families, but also to the families we care for every day.
Motherhood takes many forms. Mums, step-mums, grandmothers, and those who offer the same love, guidance, and support as a mother. Each plays a truly special role in the lives of others.
We also recognise that Mother’s Day can bring mixed emotions. Today we hold in our thoughts those remembering their mums, those missing children, and anyone who may find this day a little difficult.
To every mum and mother figure, thank you for the love, strength, and care you give so selflessly.
Wishing you all a gentle and meaningful Mother’s Day. 💐

Thank you so much to everyone who has submitted a remembrance candle so far. Our candle initiative will come to an end today (Sunday 15 March).
Candles submitted before 5pm today will be shared on our page on Monday 16 March.
Today we especially acknowledge Angela, our dedicated mortician, and a proud mother of three.
Angela brings a remarkable combination of professional skill, compassion and care to her role. With a background in healthcare and hairdressing, she has developed a unique set of skills that allow her to prepare and care for those entrusted to us with dignity, gentleness and the utmost respect.
Angela’s experience in caring professions, together with the patience and organisation that comes naturally to many mothers, helps ensure every detail is thoughtfully considered. From coordinating appointments to the careful preparation of our loved ones, her work brings comfort to families during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Behind the scenes, Angela’s dedication helps families see their loved one presented peacefully and respectfully something that means so much at a time of farewell.
This Mother’s Day we are grateful for the kindness, strength and compassion that mothers like Angela bring not only to their families, but also to the families we serve every day.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums in our team and in our community. 💐

As we continue celebrating the wonderful mothers who make up our team this Mother’s Day, today we are proud to highlight Sarah. 💐
Sarah is the loving mum of a soon-to-be 21-year-old daughter, of whom she is incredibly proud. She is the welcoming face of The Oaks Funeral Home in sunny St Annes and feels truly privileged to support those arranging funerals for their loved ones.
Sarah is the right-hand woman to Anthony, the Funeral Director based there. Empathetic, calm, and with excellent communication skills, she works in the same way she parents – with love, understanding, and a non-judgemental listening ear.💛

To continue celebrating the wonderful mothers who are part of our team this Mother’s Day, today we are delighted to highlight Lynn. 💐
Lynn is the welcoming face on reception at The Willows Funeral Home. Her calm and caring nature helps families feel a little more comfortable at a time when they need it most.
She’s also a proud mum to two amazing grown-up daughters (who still keep her on her toes!). Lynn brings that same kindness, patience, and good humour into the funeral home every day.
We’re very lucky to have Lynn as part of our team and grateful every day for the kindness she shows to the families we care for. 💗

To celebrate Mother’s Day this year, we’d love to highlight a few of the wonderful mothers who are part of our team.💐
Today, we are proud to highlight Lucy.
A devoted mum to three beautiful children, Lucy brings warmth, patience, and understanding to everything she does – both at home and here at our funeral home. As our receptionist, she is often the first voice families hear and the first face they see.
Her kindness, gentle nature, and reassuring presence help bring comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments. We are so grateful to have her as part of our team and to celebrate the incredible mother she is.💜

Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde’s first choice for funeral service.
Welcome to D. Hollowell & Sons, Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde’s first choice for funeral service.
As an independent family funeral home we work around the clock to serve our local communities and ease the burden a loss can bring.
We recognise that funerals are unique and memorable occasions and we aim to tailor each service to your needs, from a traditional church affair to the more low key yet dignified ‘Simple Alternative’ option. Whatever your needs, we are here to assist and serve in every way.
The Hollowell family, originally from the farms of Northamptonshire moved to Blackpool in 1984 to look after a small hotel in Albert Road. Dedicated to customer service with attention to detail, Mrs. Janet Hollowell and husband David brought up two young boys Andrew and Robert and daughter Jackie with a similar work ethic. Andrew was introduced to the funeral profession after leaving Collegiate High School and completed an apprenticeship with a local funeral directors.
The natural aptitude Andrew showed for the profession shone through, and Janet and David nurtured their sons talent. They went on to sell the hotel in favour of supporting Andrew’s career in funeral service. Today, the Hollowell family are in their third generation and still serve bereaved families across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde with that same personal touch and attention to detail set to seed in the farms of Northampton, nurtured through years of service in Blackpool’s hotel trade and now flourishing as the only funeral service on the Fylde Coast to treat each family they serve as they would their own.
