‼️We are aware of recent reports of a meningitis outbreak in Kent ‼️

At present, we have not received any official communication or additional guidance from NHS England regarding changes to vaccination provision.

Please note:

• The outbreak appears to be currently limited to the Kent area.
• Meningitis vaccinations are routinely offered in secondary school and at university/college.
• At this time, we do not have additional vaccine supply available outside of the routine programme.

If guidance changes or additional vaccines become available, we will update patients accordingly.

🛑 IMPORTANT MEDICINE UPDATE 🛑

💊Co-codamol 30/500 mg Shortage💊

There is currently a severe national supply issue of
Co-codamol 30 mg / 500 mg tablets across the UK. It is expected that availability will be restricted until around June 2026.

This means your usual medication may not be available at the moment.

What does this mean for patients?
• Your prescription may be changed to a suitable alternative
• Your prescription may be changed to a lower amount
• We may need to offer a suitable alternative
• Pharmacies may not be able to supply this medication immediately

What can you do to help?
✔ Only order your prescription when it is due
✔ Do not stockpile medication
✔ Use any medication you already have (check expiry dates)

We are currently seeing very high demand for our services and are working hard to make sure patients are seen as quickly as possible. Due to this sustained pressure, particularly in our Emergency Department, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals has taken the decision to declare a Critical Incident.

We have tried and tested plans in place to help manage periods of high pressure, and ensuring safe care for patients continues to be our first priority. A&E should only be used for life-threatening illnesses and injuries. For conditions which are less urgent, please contact NHS 111, or visit a local pharmacy, walk-in centre or GP practice for advice and support instead.
