We are proud to announce that we are taking part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 11 December! By pulling on our Christmassy knits and donating, we’ll be supporting children in the UK and around the world to keep safe, healthy, and learning. We’ll be helping them fight for the future they deserve. Follow the link to our JustGiving page or scan the QR code in the next slide to donate and help us reach our goal of £100 - all money will go straight to Save the Children. The money we raise could go towards some amazing things like:

£2 could buy a packet of seeds for a family in Kenya to grow their own food, after drought has killed their crops.

£8 could buy a blanket to keep a child in Ukraine warm through winter.

£15 could pay for two weeks of super-powered peanut paste to help a child beat hunger.

£20 could buy enough supermarket vouchers for two children in the UK.

£40 could provide a family in Gaza with a Baby Kit to give them the items they need to provide basic care to their infant.

Our very own Dispensing Optician, Lynsey is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by competing in HYROX London ExCel in December.

Here’s what Lynsey has to say:
‘This December, I have challenged myself to take on HYROX to help raise money for people living with cancer.

HYROX combines both running & functional workout stations, where participants run 1km, followed by 1 functional workout station, repeated eight times.

I’d be so grateful if you could help me reach my £400 pledge, which could run the Macmillan Support Line phone service for 1 hour.

There are currently over 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It’s Macmillan’s goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can’t do this without donations from people like you.

🌹Lest we forget🌹
Today for Rememberance Sunday we are honouring the many soldiers who lost their sight in WWI. This sculpture, that sits in front of Manchester Piccadilly station, is called ‘Victory Over Blindness’ by Johanna Domke-Guyot and commemorates the more than 3,000 soldiers who lost their sight in WWI. The monument was commissioned by Blind Veterans UK and depicts seven blinded First World War soldiers leading one another away from the battlefield with their hand on the shoulder of the man in front.

🎆Protect your eyes this bonfire night!🎆
Follow The Eyecare Trust’s ‘SPARKLER’ code to ensure a fun and safe bonfire night!

S - Shield your eyes with protective eyewear when lighting fireworks
P - Plunge sparklers into a bucket of cold water as soon as they have burnt out
A - Attend properly organised displays wherever possible
R - Read the instructions on the fireworks with a torch and follow them carefully
K - Keep all fireworks in a closed metal box and only light one at a time
L - Leave fireworks that fail to go off – never return to a lit firework
E - Ensure everyone stands a safe distance away when the fireworks fired
R - Remove all debris and flammable objects from your firework display area
