If you are advised to attend A&E, please be aware that waiting times may be longer than usual. We recommend preparing in advance, including ensuring your mobile phone is fully charged.

All NHS and social care teams are working incredibly hard to see and treat patients as quickly and safely as possible.

Please only attend A&E if a true emergency, you can call 111 for advice on the best place for your symptoms.

We are currently seeing very high demand for our services and are working hard to make sure patients are seen as quickly as possible. Due to this sustained pressure, particularly in our Emergency Department, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals has taken the decision to declare a Critical Incident.

We have tried and tested plans in place to help manage periods of high pressure, and ensuring safe care for patients continues to be our first priority. A&E should only be used for life-threatening illnesses and injuries. For conditions which are less urgent, please contact NHS 111, or visit a local pharmacy, walk-in centre or GP practice for advice and support instead.
