Urban Organic UK CIC

Urban Organic UK CIC Helping bees, plants and people We are currently involved in a variety of projects - please see our photo albums for details.

Urban Organic (UK) CIC has been created as a social enterprise in order to harness the therapeutic ability of gardening to improve well being in people who would otherwise be socially excluded. Operating across the Fylde it will engage, socialise and inspire people to make real changes to their diet, the way they buy food, their environmental awareness, their mental health and their ability to engage with and inspire others.

Today was all about seeing the beauty in the things that are often overlooked. We went for a walk around the grounds of N-Vision: The Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Society for the Blind and counted the different species of wildflower we could find,
the total was 33 but there were probably many more. We identified them and created small decorations. Weeds are wonderful!

It was all fun and games at our garden party. A huge thanks to Stu for making the wooden, tactile dominoes and to the whole hoopla- throwing, croquet - bashing, welly-wanging, garden gang for joining in wholeheartedly.

Although we try to keep the gardens at N-Vision: The Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Society for the Blind looking their best we do like to leave a corner to run a little wilder for the benefit of the bees, butterflies and other insects. We allow calendula, lemon-balm and viper's bugloss to self-seed around and have even left a small patch of nettles as they can support up to 40 different species of insect including the larva of the Peacock butterfly. Tidiness in the garden is not always a good thing 😊
