JOIN US TO BE A LITTER PICKING HERO 🥳

Next week 9.30am on the 6th of May, members of the BFriend & Wellbeing team will be joining Enveco Blackpool for the 2nd annual litter picking marathon! We'd love to see any of our group or community participants down there to join in and give a little something back to where we live 😍

All equipment can be provided by Enveco, but you will need to register yourself in to ensure they have enough. There's several meet points, so we'll be at Central promenade opposite the sea life centre, but if you decide to join the litter pick from a spot that's more local to you... why not send us a selfie so we can celebrate you joining the cause! 😁

Become a litter hero in Blackpool! Volunteer for our community litter picking events, get a litter pack, and help us keep the town clean.

As many of you will know, the final Monday of each month means it's time for craft week, but with March's craft week followed by a bank holiday, then a special guest event, then just two more groups before ANOTHER bank holiday next week, we decided together to skip craft week for April... BUT... we couldn't let them away without something juuuust a little bit creative! And so, here enters PICTIONARY 😁

We had a gorgeous swan, a cat in a hat, a toaster, Patrick Star from SpongeBob and even some creative interpretation of some of our house bingo calls - it's not about the works of art, it's about the taking part 😂

But, most importantly... Can you do what our group almost didn't manage and work out what the lovely Pauline was drawing in this clip?! They did get it in the end, but let's see what you can come up with first 🎉

No group next week - but Monday will be back business as usual on the 11th of May, 1pm, Forest Gate Baptist Church ❤️

Our Tuesday puzzlers and gamers enjoyed themselves so much last week every single one of them forgot to ask for a second brew... but we have just two more weeks of this theme to go, so do bring yourself along and take part!

With Battleships, Frustration, Connect 4 and more, we've got fun for all generations! Why not pop in for a couple of hours of relaxed, social entertainment after lunch, or before your school run?

Last week we hosted our first friendship group in Fleetwood ❤️
We welcomed lots of new faces and watched friendships start to build. We enjoyed colouring, prize bingo, Bfriends famous backwards bingo and one of Andrew's quizes.

Next week we will be learning to knit and crochet, diamond and scratch art along with bingo and a quiz.

Come along and join us..... Even if you dont want to take part in any of the activities the most important thing we do is chat and make new friends.

There is always a seat around our table at BFriend and Well-being.

📢 Family Fun Quiz Update 📢

Unfortunately, this month’s BFriend & Wellbeing Family Fun Quiz will not be going ahead due to other commitments.

But don’t worry… we’ll be back on Friday 29th May at 6pm with a very special Takeover Edition 👀🎉

Expect fun, surprises, and all the usual quiz night laughs. More details coming soon!

Have you checked your blood pressure lately? Did you know that half of all UK adults have high blood pressure... and more importantly only half of them know about it!

We are delighted to be able to offer blood pressure checks at most BFriend groups, and to staff and visitors at the Blackpool Community First office... Why not ask for a check next time you pop in? Knowing your numbers could save your life!

If your blood pressure goes above 140/90 (either number), we will typically recommend that you pop into your local pharmacy, where they will re-check it and advise you on next steps.

If you take medicine for blood pressure, it's still important to monitor it, as your needs can change over time.

How many befriendees officers does it take to run a friendship group? Usually, just the one! Our minimum numbers are 1 staff member + 1 volunteer... But at this week's Wednesday group, we managed to get FOUR - that must be a record 😂

Why did that happen, I hear you ask? Was there a scheduling error? No! They actually all planned to be there in advance, as part of our standard offer of your case manager meeting you in person at one of our groups the first time you come 🫂

Wanting to join but feeling a bit nervous about not knowing anyone or walking into the room on your own? Simply drop us an email on bfriendreferrals@communityfirstbwf.org

You will be allocated to one of the team (Hollie, Lehan, Martha, Leon or Andrew), who will ring you up for a quick chat, talk about any worries you have (and hopefully reassure you), before inviting you to your chosen group, including that personalised welcome.

Rest assured though, if you do want to take the plunge and just turn up on the day, you'll be made equally welcome!
