📢 Important changes to our computer system 🖥

Across Wales, GP practices are being moved to a new system called EMIS Web. This change is being managed in collaboration between the practice, NHS Wales and a company called EMIS.

⚠️ Our migration is planned for 03.02.2026 but we will experience some disruption from 28.01.2026 to allow the clinical data to be migrated. We expect disruption to last for approximately 2 weeks.

While we will do our best to minimise disruption, this is a very significant change for the practice and will impact our ability to offer a full range of services during this period. We are moving to an "Emergency Only" service during the transition period to allow staff to train and manage the data transfer.

Please be patient - the staff (clinical and administrative) will be on a steep learning curve and doing our best 😊

Undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes in children is a medical emergency.

If parents notice ANY of the key symptoms of Type 1 diabetes, they need to make an urgent GP appointment, or contact their Out of Hours service.

The main symptoms of Type 1 diabetes are known as the 4 Ts:
- Toilet: going to the toilet a lot more than usual, bedwetting in children who were previously dry at night or heavier nappies in younger children
- Thirsty: Increased thirst which is difficult to quench
- Tired: Increased tiredness/lethargy
- Thinner: Weight loss, looking thinner, clothes feeling looser

🚨 Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by the immune system overreacting to an infection or injury. Knowing the symptoms can save lives.

A child may have sepsis if they are:
· Breathing very fast
· Have a ‘fit’ or convulsion
· Look mottled, bluish, or very pale
· Have a rash that does not fade when you press it
· Are very lethargic or difficult to wake
· Feel abnormally cold to touch

In adults, look out for:
· Slurred speech or confusion
· Extreme shivering or muscle pain
· Passing no urine (in a day)
· Severe breathlessness
· It feels like you’re going to die
· Skin mottled or discoloured

⚠️ Suspect sepsis? Act fast. Seek medical help immediately. Call 999 or head to the Emergency Department at Grange University Hospital.

If you’re worried about an infection but don’t suspect sepsis, call 111.
