⚠️⚠️⚠️Changes to prescription Course Lengths from the average of 28 days supplied to 56 days.💊💊

1. Purpose
To provide a consistent approach to issuing 56-day (8-week) prescriptions to appropriate patients, promoting medication adherence, minimising administrative workload, and aligning with NHS cost-saving goals.

2. Scope
This protocol applies to
• Repeat medications
• Stable patients on long-term treatment

3. Eligibility criteria for 56-Day Prescribing
A patient is eligible for 56-day prescribing if:
• They are stable on long-term therapy (no recent changes in the last 3 months)
• They are adherent to their medication regimen
• There are no known supply or safety issues with the medicines
• The medicine is not classified as high risk (eg. Methotrexate, warfarin, lithium etc)

4. Exclusion criteria
Do not prescribe 56-day supplies for:
• New medications or newly initiated therapies (first 3 months)
• Medicines requiring frequent monitoring (eg. DMARDs, anticoagulants)
• Controlled drugs
• Unstable patients
• Patient with known compliance issues

🛑Job Vacancy 2 x Part time Receptionists/Care Navigators🛑

We are looking to recruit 2 part time receptionists, one vacancy would be 20 hrs and the other 17hrs per week. You must be available to start at 8am some days or until 6.30pm on other days. Previous GP receptionist experience preferred, but not essential as full training will be given. Candidates must have a sound knowledge of microsoft outlook and Excel, and the ability to work under pressure, multi task and able to work in a fast paced environment. Excellent communication skills are essential Hourly pay £12.21 per hr. Telephone Issue as of 9.55am

We currently have an issue with our telephones cutting callers off mid call. If you need to contact us please either attend in person to the reception desk for ugent issues or for any non urgent matters you can email us at enquiries.w93115@wales.nhs.uk

We have contacted our telephone supplier and they are on route to the surgery to hopefully rectify the problem.

**Important notice to patients****

We are unable to offer 1 week in advance Routine GP appointments for next week as we are extremely short of GPs, nurse and HCA's due to sickness and annual leave, this situation is also affecting appointments this week. During this time we will be strictly accepting clinical emergencies only with a priority for children and palliative patients. We have endeavoured to source locum cover for support which has been successful this week, but unfortunately no locum cover is available for next week due to the Easter break. However, we can offer to book a GP appointment in advance for 6 weeks, or you can contact us again on Wednesday the 23rd April to book an appointment for week commencing the 28th April 2025.

We ask our patients to seek help with their health needs by using NHS 111 symptom checker or by telephoning 111 for advice. Your local pharmacy offers free advice and free treatment

NHS 111 Wales are available for Health advice and can also when appropriate offer you an appointment to be seen in one of the Urgent aprimary Care units, in local hospitals, such as Nevill Hall, Ystrad Mynach, Royal Gwent

Please recognise that our staff work tirelessly serving patients and ask that you be patient and courteous. Our reception team are supporting the clinicians as they are instructed and follow guidance created by our clinical team.
