🐌 Where are mud snail hotspots? 🐚

Mud snails are the intermediate hosts of liver fluke, carrying the parasite before it reaches its final hosts - our sheep and cattle! As the name suggests; they thrive in wet, muddy patches around the farm, so these areas are where fluke risk is highest.

A few practical ways to help reduce a fluke challenged on your ground :

1️⃣ 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐭/ 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬- pop
up some electric fencing , shift grazing where possible or bring livestock In over autumn and winter.

2️⃣ 𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬 - fix any leaky troughs and keep on top of drainage to stop at areas getting boggy.
