🥦 Worried about rising food costs? You’re not alone.

Recent data shows that 14% of households in England are facing food insecurity - and families with young children are often the hardest hit.

We are proud to support Gloucestershire’s Healthy Start Campaign, led by Feeding Gloucestershire.

If you're pregnant or have children under 4 and are on a low income or receiving benefits like Universal Credit, you could get:

🔹 Up to £8.50 a week to spend on fruit, veg, pulses, milk or formula
🔹 Access to free vitamins for you and your child

Important Information Regarding the Practice IT System Merger

The formal merger of Blakeney Surgery and Coleford Medical Practice will take place on 1st August 2025 to become Dean Medical Practice. This will require an update to our clinical system, which will take place on 4th August 2025. During this time patients will unfortunately experience reduced services.

Please bear with us while the updates to the system are being implemented. We would like to thank our patients for their consideration to practice staff during this change.

Disruption during System Merger
During the system merger, the practice has limited access to systems, including medical records on the afternoon of Monday 4th August. Therefore we request that you only contact the practice if your condition is urgent during this period.

Our Minor Injury and Illness Units are open every day from 8am until 8pm (last 'walk ins' at 7.30pm).

We have specially trained Emergency Practitioners in all units. The team specialises in treating the following:

- sprains
- simple fractures needing x-rays and plasters
- simple wounds that may need suturing (stitches)
- minor burns
- emergency contraception
- minor head injuries with no loss of consciousness
- minor illness, earache, sore throat, etc.
- skin problems such as rashes, bites, stings and infections
- eye conditions including foreign bodies and conjunctivitis

We have dedicated waiting areas at all sites and free parking is available at all community hospital sites. There are facilities for disabled parking also.

We do have x-ray facilities at MIIUs but they aren’t always available. If you require an x-ray, you may be asked to attend a different location.

We are unable to treat the following in our Minor Injury and Illness Units:

- head injuries with loss of consciousness
- alcohol-related problems
- overdoses
- complicated or serious injuries
- major or long standing illnesses

We encourage patients who need to be seen in one of our MIIUs to contact NHS111 online or over the phone first of all.

Finally, you must contact 999 with an emergency, including chest pain and any serious injuries or illnesses, or anything you may consider to be life threatening.

Today is National Receptionist Day
👏 Shout-out to our amazing reception and admin team!
They’re the friendly voices on the phone, the first faces you see when you arrive, and the people keeping everything running behind the scenes.

This short video from IGPM gives a glimpse into the busy and often challenging days they navigate.

We're so proud of them and thankful for all they do. A little kindness goes a long way—and it means the world to our team. ❤

Receptionists are not ‘just admin’ — they are patient advocates, navigating complex systems to get people the care they need. They are the gateway to the cli...
