Let’s play a game - normal rugby soreness 🏉 OR injury 👀

Post match muscle soreness is common after rugby or any sport, especially in the legs, knees, shoulders and lower back. But ongoing pain, sharp pain or pain that changes how you move could be a rugby injury that needs treatment.

If your rugby pain lasts more than 48 hours, gets worse during the week, or affects training, it’s time to stop guessing and get checked by a sports therapist.

Save this for after your next match 🏉

Taking the time to think in January about what I want to achieve this year and how I am going to make it happen.

I already work with Bridport RFC as their lead Sports Therapist however, my dream is to work with premiership rugby teams and this years I would like to one step closer to that dream. And hopefully get invited back to work with he bath ladies.

I have started a Strength and Conditioning Qualification to help me deepen my knowledge of how to body moves, heals and adapts. Enabling my rehabilitation plans to strength and improve with more clinical knowledge.

To continue to grow my injury clinic, True Form Therapy Ltd and continue to help runners, athletes, gym-goers and active people be pain free and injury free. Allowing them to do what they love.

Other then career achievements, I would like to focused more on my own development in my fitness as I believe that to be able to help my clinic heal and improve I need to make sure I keep myself strong and healthy. Picking up rugby boys off the floor is not for the weak literally.

I will also continue to learn new sports so far I have taken up rugby and golf thinking of taking back up or starting to learn a few more new sports even if it’s just for the one off.

Flooding across Dorset = extra strain on your body

With the recent heavy rain, many people have been lifting, clearing water, or moving more carefully on slippery ground which can lead to aches and stiffness, especially in the back, shoulders, hips, and knees.

If you’ve noticed any aches or pains, I’m here to help and happy to share some gentle advice to support your recovery.

💬 DM “FLOOD” for advice or bookings
Please take care and stay safe 🤍

There are lots of misconceptions when it comes to the differences between a Sports Therapist (which I am) and a physiotherapist.

The most common misconception is that a Sports Therapist only does massage! This is untrue we use a range of techniques to be able to identify the problem, treat it and then prevent it from occurring again.

As professions we have a communal goal of treating pain to help with movement.

Unfortunately the Sports Therapy community is still waiting for our profession to become a protected title, like physios are.

From my table to the track, to be able to perform at your best it is important that you are taking time away from training to look after your body. I saw 3 days prior to completing the Bournemouth Half Marathon.

Sports massage isn’t just for recovery it’s also a powerful tool for performance. By reducing tension, improving mobility, and boosting circulation, it helps you show up on race day feeling your best.

So proud to see all the hard work pay off 🙌
