Dorothy was the kind of woman who didn’t need to say much just one little curl of the lip (like an Elvis Presley impersonator ) and you knew exactly where you stood. She had old-fashioned values, did things properly, loved her family fiercely, and never bent for anyone… but she also had a wickedly dry sense of humour and had unbelievable luck.

She could survive seasick ferry trips, countless NHS operations, and still find the energy for a bit of shopping at Boundary Mills or Dalton Park. Just as long as Ian did the food shop.

Strong, honest as they come, loyal, and full of quiet resilience, Dorothy simply got on with life… and made sure everyone else was alright along the way.🩷

Joyce was the kind of person who made life feel warm and steady just by being there. Loving, kind and quietly thoughtful, she was always the one looking after everyone else, making sure people were comfortable, well fed and felt welcome in her home.

Family meant everything to her, and she loved nothing more than a house full of noise, laughter and people she adored, happily sitting back and enjoying the chaos unfold around her.

Joyce’s kindness showed in the little everyday things the thoughtful gestures, keeping her family going in pek chopped pork, Avon perfume and gravy.

She built a life full of family, friendship and warmth, and that love will continue to live on in all the people who were lucky enough to be part of her world. ❤️

Allison was one of those people who brought life and laughter wherever she went. Bubbly, funny, a little bit cheeky and wonderfully sarcastic. If Allison had something to say, she said it. She could be quiet at times… but give her a drink and that quiet side didn’t last very long.

She spent more than 25 years behind the bar at the West End Club in Winlaton, where she belonged, chatting, laughing, and making friends with just about everyone.

Allison loved music, holidays in Turkey, (even if she came back just as white as she went) karaoke that she sang badly but with plenty enthusiasm, and a good laugh with the people around her.

But above everything else, Allison was a fantastic sister and aunty. And a devoted mam. Declan was her pride and joy, her number one, and she did everything she could to give him the best life possible.

She leaves behind so many funny stories, memories, and moments that will keep people smiling whenever we remember her. “ Goodnight. Love you” 💛

It was my honour to deliver Kevin’s service.

Meeting up with his lovely family was something special. Something that will stay with me for a long time.

Losing Kevin at just 46 has come as a huge shock to everyone who knew and loved him. He was one of those people you couldn’t miss, if Kev walked into a room, you knew about it. Full of humour, quick with a joke, and always ready to have a laugh, he had a way of lifting the mood and keeping people smiling.

He lived life at full speed, a real character with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Kev was a proud brother and a brilliant uncle who adored his nieces and nephews and loved nothing more than winding people up and making them laugh.

He leaves behind so many memories, stories and laughs that will be told for years to come. Gone far too soon, but never forgotten. 💙

Terry was a character as straight as you get. He called a spade a spade. He loved to tell a good story just like all the Hunters did.

He loved a pint of John smiths. He loved to sit in The County and read his paper. Above all else he loved his family. He’s now laid to rest with his wife Martha. 💙

What a character John was. He loved to make people laugh, never short of a joke even in his last weeks be joked about his amputation.

He’d said “I’ve got a joke for you. I went on Wednesday and came back Thursday leg less.”

He was owa the knot he now qualified to go on his favourite show the last leg.

He was a lovely bloke with a heart of gold who never wanted to be a bother. He would always say “Nowt gannin on here”

Beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady. Sandra.

Sandra was the kind of woman who made the world feel warmer simply by being in it. She was everyone’s mam, everyone’s aunty, the one who welcomed you in, made sure you were fed, and had the kettle on before you’d even taken your coat off. Her kitchen was the heart of everything: full of baking, laughter, stories and people she loved.

Family meant everything to her, and she built a home where everyone belonged, children, grandchildren, friends and in-laws alike.

We said goodbye to a lovely man today.

Flowers were inspired by Neil’s love of nature and military planes.

Neil was a private, quiet man. Steady, gentle, and what we’d call “nee bother.”

He found his place in nature as warden at Herrington Country Park, Joe’s pond, sharing his knowledge with school children. Meeting heroes like David Attenborough, and quietly doing work that mattered.

A devoted dad, stepdad and granda, he was the calm in every storm and the reassuring presence when it was needed most.

He loved engines and rallying, planes, antiques and auctions, guitars, (playing just for himself), and cheering on Sunderland with surprising volume.

Above all, Neil will be remembered for being simply lovely and for his hugs.💚

Harry was friendly and outgoing, never able to go anywhere without bumping into someone he knew.

He was an expert wind-up merchant, and he was like Shrek in many ways, with many layers…like an onion.

He always showed up with a bit of grumble on the outside but a mischievousness underneath and a heart far bigger than he ever let on.

Speaking of onions he thought every ailment could be healed by onions.

He worked hard all his life, from the pits to fixing just about anything. Cars and watches were his favorite things to fix. If Granda couldn’t fix it, you were in screwed. He grumbled while doing it, of course but he loved being needed really.

With his granddaughter Eve everything shifted. He was so soft. Today Eve chose a grandad bear to bring to the service with her because it was the most cuddly and soft bear to cuddle and her grandad gave the very best cuddles.

You’ll be a huge miss Harry.

Last night I was humbled to be invited to share a reading and a poem, at Byker Hall care home for their Christmas remembrance evening

The words I spoke carried the weight of memory and the warmth of love. The shared feeling that those we miss are never as far from us.

It was particularly hard for me to speak those words reflecting on the loss of my own brother Matty earlier this year.

After the reading, we hung a remembrance bauble on the tree, one for every person we continue to hold in our hearts though we can no longer hold them in our arms.

Watching the tree fill with names, memories, and love was incredibly moving. Each bauble with its own story. Each one a reminder that love endures, and that remembering together brings comfort and light.

The most moving thing of the evening was one of the residents Mae reading a poem about loss, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

A beautiful evening 🫶❤️✨

Carole was super organised and she liked to have everything sorted before she went anywhere, even today.

She liked things done her way, so it didn’t surprise anyone that she wrote her own eulogy. She wanted to have the final say.

She was stylish, sharp, hilarious and never without a glass of red. 🍷
