Happy Bee Day!
Bees are so important to the health of our planet, so much so that they have their own special day šŸ
You can help the bee population by:
Planting bee-friendly plants like heather and daisies
Leaving sections of the garden wild and letting the grass grow long
Providing a bee hotel
Leaving a small dish with shallow water and a few pebbles incase they’re thirsty
Not using pesticides
Buying local honey šŸÆ

Sending everyone Christmas blessings of joy, peace and love.
This year has been a special one, working a few hours a week for Penny Brohn Cancer Care, and introducing so many wonderful brave people to the wonders of reflexology šŸ‘£ An honour I will carry on into 2025.
I’ll close with thanks to my clients for their continued endorsement.

What are the benefits of reflexology on brain health and function?

Reflexology has been found to have several benefits on brain health and function. Some of these include:

1. Stress Reduction: Reflexology helps to reduce stress and promotes relaxation, which can have a positive impact on brain health. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps to calm the mind and reduce anxiety.

2. Improved Blood Circulation: By applying pressure to specific points on the feet or hands, reflexology improves blood circulation throughout the body, including the brain. This increased blood flow can enhance brain function and improve cognitive abilities.

3. Enhanced Sleep Quality: Reflexology has been shown to improve sleep quality, which is essential for optimal brain health. By reducing stress and promoting relaxation, reflexology can help regulate sleep patterns and ensure restful sleep.

4. Pain Relief: Reflexology can help alleviate headaches and migraines, which are often associated with brain health issues. By targeting specific reflex points, reflexology stimulates the release of endorphins, which act as natural painkillers.

5. Mental Clarity and Focus: Reflexology can enhance mental clarity and focus by reducing mental fatigue and improving concentration. It helps to clear the mind, improve cognitive function, and increase alertness.

6. Emotional Wellbeing: Reflexology can have a positive impact on emotional wellbeing, which is closely linked to brain health. It helps to reduce anxiety, depression, and mood swings, promoting a sense of overall emotional balance.

Stress can often be a ā€˜bandied about’ term but its impact on the body over a period of time can be significant and can have an effect on energy levels, physiological, behavioural and emotional aspects.

Usually referred to as the ā€˜fight or flight’ response, stress reflects an over stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system. If the underlying cause persists the condition becomes chronic and impacts glands, organs and the nervous system.

Each individual will cope with stress in a different way and there are coping mechanisms including social support, positive thinking, exercise, hobbies, sleep, healthy habits, mindfulness and relaxation.

As a reflexologist, I believe from anecdotal evidence that the relaxing effect of reflexology engages the parasympathetic nervous system (ā€˜rest and digest’) which in turn calms the sympathetic nervous system.

Your feet šŸ‘£ through the eyes and touch of a reflexologist can help determine imbalances in your body. Dry feet can indicate dehydration, and a pale coloured instep may be a sign of a sluggish digestive system. We also note the temperature, hot toes could be due to sinus congestion and if feet are cold and tinged with blue then poor circulation could be the culprit. Flexibility of the feet, resistance and foot placement are also factors as well as aromas.

Today is the first day of World Reflexology Week šŸ‘£
Let’s celebrate this wonderful holistic therapy which treats the mind, body and soul.
Think of your feet as a mini map of your body, reflexologists stimulate reflex points which correspond to all the systems of your body with the intention of bringing about balance and potential restoration.

Autumnal days can be stunning with leaves turning red, yellow, purple, orange and brown, especially against the backdrop of a crisp sunny day.
Remember to look after your wellbeing as the seasons reduction in sunlight causes serotonin levels to drop affecting mood, appetite and sleep patterns.
Could this be the time to try reflexology?

Mental Health Awareness Week

This post says it all, I couldn’t agree more 🄰

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

I want to normalise asking ā€˜how’s your mental health?’
I want to normalise making choices to protect that mental health.
I want to normalise coffee and chats about darkness (it automatically brings in the light).
I want to normalise not avoiding someone who brings down the mood, no one left Eeyore out.
I want to normalise reaching in when someone isn’t reaching out and not worrying you’ll say the wrong thing because the truth is your heart speaks for you and their heart will feel that.
I want to normalise working on our mental health in exactly the same way we work on our bodies - every day or minimum three times a week.
I want to normalise mental health advice for every defining stage of our lives, lots of help for vulnerable teens, divorcees, new parents, menopause, retirement and empty nesters.
Most of all I want to normalise the realisation that nothing, NOTHING matters if our mental health isn’t in check and that each and every one of us has our own issues to deal with in that respect.

Mental health isn’t just for one week, it’s for life,
it IS life.

I want to normalise asking ā€˜how’s your mental health?’
And never just accepting ā€˜fine’.

Who is with me?
