Did you know that almost 4.6 million people in the UK live with Diabetes diagnoses. Additionally, nearly 1.3 million people could be living with Type 2 Diabetes who are yet to be diagnosed.

What causes Diabetes?

What all types of diabetes have in common is that they cause people to have too much glucose (sugar) in their blood. But we all need some glucose. It’s what gives us energy. We get glucose when our bodies break down the carbohydrates that we eat or drink. And that glucose is released into our blood.

We also need a hormone called insulin. It’s made by our pancreas, and it’s insulin that allows the glucose in our blood to enter our cells and fuel our bodies.

We know that everyone’s experience of diabetes is different. Whether you’re living with diabetes or care for a loved one who does, we’re here for you.

We’ve got lots of information to help you learn how to manage your condition effectively. To find out more about our FREE 6 week Diabetes Programmes call us on 01922 605490 or email wht.selfcare@nhs.net

Every year, Carers Week is a campaign to increase awareness of caring, draw attention to the difficulties faced by unpaid carers, and honour the contribution they make to communities and families across the United Kingdom. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carer's and access much-needed support.

If this describes you, we can help you! A Carer's course called "Caring for Me and You" is offered by the Walsall NHS Trust's Self Care Management Team.

The ‘Caring for Me and You’ Carer’s Course is a free course for adults who care for someone, a child or another adult, who is living with a long-term health condition or disability.
