My teenage son is high functioning autistic.
We mananaged to get him a part time job with a freind that owns a pub inorder to help him feel more independent.
One of his traits is not being able to take situations and recall them to help him navigate the world.
He stole some crisps from the pub. We were motified as that's not how we bought him up and as I said the publican is a freind and was doing us a favour.
No matter what my husband and I said we did not feel that Alex understood the issue of stealing, infact he repeated just taking things from shops and family members. We believed he could not cope in the world ..
We created a book, of all the places you had to ask or pay for things to try and help him understand and as a point of reference ,but it did not help as he is so black and white in his thought process ...we forgot to list petrol stations for example...so in his mind that was ok.
Other a period of months this book became 4 four books as we desperately tried to include every conceivable situation.
It failed be cause there was to many listing's and he forgot to read the book.

We took him to the amazing Ali at Ollieandhissuperpowers.
We explained the situation, our desire to find ways for him to cope in the real world and the books.

One session!
And all she did was chuck our books in the bin and say to him
" one rule ...if it's not yours you can't take it"

His face lit up ...because he was desperately trying to get it right .

We have had no more stealing , ( Ali also explained to us he did not understand what we called stealing)

Now he see's Ali once amonth for more one liner one rule life instructions as situations occure to help him navigate the world.

We have had countless therapists over the years and nothing had helped him or us

I cannot recommend her and her teams approach highly enough. Every family should have access to an Ollie coach. Ali has changed our life's and given my beutiful boy copping strategies so that he can have a life.

We went to see Ali due to my son's stammer. It was getting worse inspite of support from a speech and language therapist from the local authority. We initially met with Ali for a free consultation and she was extremely generous with her time and advice. After the first visit my son was keen to see her again and he asked me as soon as we left....mum can we see her again? The second visit went amazingly well. Ali's way of explaining why and how the stammer had come about made so much sense. It seemed quite simple really. I was struck by her honest no nonsense approach and how adamant she was that the stammer would go and it could be sorted. Well after one session, I'm telling you now that my son's stammer is sooooooo much better. He speaks more fluently and with confidence. Ali helped is to unlock the tools we needed and gave us sound and realistic advice. Ali enabled us as a family to help him in the way that he needed. If I could give a million stars I would. Thank you Ali. I can't believe I ever doubted you! You have truly helped us on the right path for our son. Please go see Ali if you have any issues that need solutions. She is the real deal. 🙏🙏

Sometimes my job is a moral dilema ...it shouldn't be as it's about the client not me, but when I have a young adult on the spectrum come with huge self worth and social anxiety i have to juggle what I call be proud and secure in your awsome pure bloodness and teaching them tactics to survive the muggle world .

Control issues ??

Kids and trauma ...
I've been working with this 7 year old that has seen stuff not one should see, for weeks she wouldn't speak ,has been a selective mute for a couple of years...
Every session she just sat and looked at me then kind of wonders round the room and then sits ...
Yesterday she drew me a picture of a mermaid ... and then a big bubble
She pointed at me and the bubble and mimed I put the bubble over my head ... then took my hand and lead me round the room pointing at things I couldn't see ... so she drew them for me ...
A whole magical underwater world .. the bubble was magic oxygen bubble so I could go with her in to her mermaid world
She drew an underwater library for me like in ollies world
I pointed at at something and she past me her pencils ...I drew a room with me and her and a big bubble round the room so we didn't need our bubbles to breath.
She hesitated as I mimed taking my bubble off and showed her I could breath in this special place
I said, hello I'm Ali and sat down .

She took her bubble off and said her name.
Sat close to me in silence we both just just sat...
After a while I put my bubble back on and drew a magic door
I wrote see you here next time?
She said yes!
And put her bubble back on ....

So powerful!!
Hopefully we now have a safe place to begin her healing .

Great to meet the truly lovely Gethin at the launch of Freedom to Thrive!
A wonderful concept to provide homes for families of autistic young adults so the family can stay together with all the support they need for their over 18 young people.
Gethin is a great advocate for all things autistic so it was great to share with him the work our organisation does in supporting the mental health for individuals and families in the SEN world

If I had a penny ....

Every new client asks, can you hypnotise me to stop doing this or that, or thinking this or that or feeling this or that?
My answer ..no, but I can undo the hypnotic trance you have put yourself in that's causing your issue.

I don't need to hypnotise you in thinking or feeling something, you've all ready done that to yourself !!!

I can DE - hypnotise you back to the you you want to be .

We are working wonders in schools teaching our kids how to control their emotions rather than being controlled by them..
Schools ,don't take our word for it, invite us into do a free assembly and watch
