🤰💉 Protect Yourself & Your Baby This Flu Season

The flu isn’t just “a bad cold.” When you’re pregnant, it can hit harder, last longer, and lead to serious complications for you and your little one. The good news? The flu jab is one of the easiest ways to stay safe.

✅ Safe in every stage of pregnancy
Research confirms the flu vaccine is safe for both mum and baby-no increased risk of birth defects or pregnancy problems.

🛡️ Double protection
Not only will you be protected, but your baby will also benefit. Antibodies you create after the jab by passing through the placenta, giving them a head start until they’re old enough (6 months) to get vaccinated themselves.

🚫 Avoid serious complications
Flu during pregnancy can raise the risk of preterm labour, low birth weight, and-in rare cases-miscarriage or stillbirth.

🤒 Your immune system changes in pregnancy
This makes you more vulnerable to infections like flu, which can spiral into pneumonia, dehydration, or hospitalisation.

This post isn't intended to criticise anyone - just a gentle reminder.

If you know you can't make your appointment, please cancel it, even if it's on the same day. A cancelled appointment might give someone else the opportunity to be seen sooner - and one day, that cancellation could benefit you too.

Thanks,

Home Visit Policy - Railway Medical Group

Due to significantly increased demand on our services, home visits are only offered to patients who are fully housebound or at the end of their life. This is in line with local and national practice in primary care.

• All requests must be made by telephone before 11:15 AM on the day you require a visit.
• Home visits are carried out by our team of paramedics with clinical oversight from GPs.
• If you are not fully housebound, you will be asked to attend the surgery unless acutely unwell.
• If all home visit slots are full, your clinician will try to manage your care remotely or refer you to urgent care services if needed.
• We are no longer able to offer late home visits, requests for home visits after 11:15 AM (except for end-of-life care) will be redirected to alternative urgent care services.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to provide safe and effective care to all our patients.
