I work with people who give themselves a hard time, judge themselves harshly and get in their own way. They might hate, reject, punish, criticise themselves and treat themselves in a way that they would never treat anybody else.

Why mentoring is good for tapping practitioners

Pesso Boyden Workshop in Newcastle Upon Tyne - 24th & 25th May 2025.
My friend and colleague Masha Bennett and her co-facilitator Clara Charlesworth will be running a two day Pesso-Boydon workshop in Newcastle in May (the venue still has to be confirmed).

The Pesso Boydon approach is an intensive approach (completely unlike tapping) to working with the damage childhood can do to us. So if you have attachment wounds, pre-verbal trauma or other childhood ‘stuff’ you may find this very useful. Please note, you have to be reasonably stable and able to tolerate emotional intensity.

You can find more information here: https://sandsoundcentre.co.uk/pesso-boyden-therapy

I attended one of these workshops the year before last, here are my reflections on that experience:

Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend a ‘Pesso Boyden’ workshop in Manchester with my good friend Masha Bennett and her colleague Clara Charlesworth. The Pesso Boyden approach is a way of repairing some of the psychological/emotional damage done to us in childhood. (It’s the kind of work I do, but it’s a very different approach).

It was a powerful experience for the whole group. Masha and Clara were amazing facilitators: skilled, grounded and kind. Under their guidance, the whole weekend was collaborative, respectful and accepting of our humanity and we all had lesser or greater roles to play in the work.

It’s hard to summarise the process, but I would describe it as a way of defusing the painful aspects of past experiences and infusing what should have been present in a powerful and moving way.

If you feel you have a messed up childhood crying out to be healed you might want to check it out.

I can’t recommend Masha and Clara highly enough.

After a (very) long hiatus I'm launching a new and improved email newsletter aimed specifically at tapping practitioners.

It's looks at strategies to help manage client sessions, deal with common difficulties, ways of thinking about problems and how to organise your tapping.

There are no tapping scripts or anything like that, just concrete strategies and tactics for working with clients based on my 20+ years of experience as a tapper.

As you may know, I'm a fan of Tad Hargrave of Marketing for Hippies.

Tad is running a one-off one-day introduction to marketing in London for coaching / therapist / holistic types who want to get the word out about what they do and don't want to feel ikky doing it.

It's on June 18th from 9-5 in Camden

I've been to a couple of his workshops and highly recommend them.

This Pay What You Can (PWYC + £15 deposit) workshop offers ways of marketing that are respectful and feel good to all involved.

Back in the 80’s, when I was on a Person Centred counselling course, one of our tutors, Professor Charles (Chuck) M. Devonshire, said this:

“For most people, the security of misery is better than the misery of insecurity.”

I think he was right and I think this observation explains a lot of otherwise mysterious human behaviour.

Our Story

I help people who look and act like adults on the outside, but sometimes feel (and act) as if there are scared, unhappy, needy, hurt, powerless, or angry children on the inside who are struggling to cope with their lives.

Trying to be in control of your emotional life, if you are not, is an exhausting and difficult way to live.

My therapeutic work involves helping people soothe and heal those struggling parts of themselves so they can be an ever more real and resourceful person (on the outside **and** the inside).

I also train people to use some of the therapeutic modalities I use: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Identity Healing
