Under Jess’s Rule, GP teams are encouraged to critically re-evaluate a diagnosis if a patient presents three times with the same or escalating symptoms or concerns

Implementing Jess’s Rule will support GP teams to manage patients with unclear symptoms, helping to improve quality of care and potentially saving lives by avoiding missed or delayed diagnosis of more serious conditions such as cancer or sepsis

Listening carefully to a patient’s symptoms and concerns remain crucial, recognising they are an expert in their own body

As a woman sometimes it can feel like your voice is not being heard by a medical professional.

Our women’s health champion Debs has this advice if you think that’s the case…

And don’t forget the new ‘Jess’s rule’ that means if you bring a problem to your doctor 3 times that have to take action and start further investigations.

Our Story

NHS Kernow is the clinical commissioning group for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The Group is formed of 62 local practices who are themselves formed into locality groups which have been involved in local commissioning for many years. There are 10 GP localities and each locality has a GP lead. For more detail on this see our GP Leads and localities page on our website.

Our principal work is to buy health services on behalf of local people. We are responsible for buying:
