NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly The integrated care board for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We are part of the wider Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System.

Our job is to plan and buy health and care services for the people registered with GP practices in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. These services include planned hospital care, mental health and learning disability services, urgent and emergency care, children’s health services, community services, NHS 111, a GP out of hours service and some primary care services. This is a partnership of health and care organisations who will work together to plan and deliver services and improve the health of people who live in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

🚑 Need medical help this weekend in Cornwall? You don't need to go to the emergency department...

If it’s urgent but not life-threatening, there are lots of NHS services available

👉 📞 NHS 111 – call or go to 111.nhs.uk for advice 24/7. They’ll tell you the best service for your symptoms and can arrange appointments.

🩹 Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) like the one at West Cornwall Hospital, Penzance for things such as cuts, sprains, minor burns or simple fractures. Open late.

🦴 Minor Injury Units (MIUs) across Cornwall for sprains, minor breaks, wound care, minor head injuries and more.

🔍 Check out live urgent care and MIU waiting times, it’s worth looking before you travel so you can pick the quickest service:

💊 Community pharmacies, great for minor illnesses, pain relief, rashes, infections and general advice and often quicker than a trip to hospital. Think Pharmacy First!

📅 Out-of-hours GP services, if your surgery is closed, NHS 111 can book you into an urgent GP appointment.

🚨 Emergency Department (A&E) is only for serious, life-threatening situations (e.g., chest pain, signs of stroke, severe bleeding, breathing problems) call 999 if this is the case.

Using the right service helps you get seen sooner and keeps ED available for those who really need it ❤️

Top tips from Heather to keep warm and well in winter:

🧣 I layer up with extra clothes, and always grab my hat and gloves before heading out.
🍲 I eat warming foods - cottage pie is my absolute favourite when the weather turns chilly.
🏡 I keep my doors and windows closed to make sure the heat stays inside where it belongs.

Cornish residents are now benefiting from quicker access to vital NHS tests and scans following the official opening of the new Camborne and Redruth Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).

We were delighted to welcome Health Minister Karin Smyth to officially open the centre today. During her visit, she toured the facilities and met local patient Paul, who shared his positive experience of care at the new CDC.

The state-of-the-art centre, based next to Camborne and Redruth Community Hospital, is now fully operational and offers services including MRI and CT scans, X-ray and endoscopy — helping people get the tests they need closer to home and without long waits.

This new centre is a big step forward in improving access to diagnosis and care for local communities across Cornwall. 💙
