Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of musculo-skeletal conditions. These are often due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves, especially related to the spine. Many people suffer from backaches, headaches or muscular pains often relating to stress and work pressures. Others think it is just ‘old age’ and that it is ‘normal’ to have pain as you get older. Unlike painkilling drugs, chiropractic treats the cause rather than just the symptoms of these complaints. Chiropractic treatment mainly involves specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. This allows the body to move freely, enabling the body to heal itself. Apart from manipulation, I will use a variety of techniques, which may include ultrasound, interferential therapy (like TENS but a bit stronger, for pain relief and muscle relaxation) acupuncture, home rehabilitation exercises and massage, as well as advice about posture and lifestyle. I support treatment by providing individually tailored advice about lifestyle, work, and an exercise regime in order to prevent recurrence of symptoms. In this way, I enable patients to stay well rather than just get well!

This week is National Back Care awareness week.
Almost everyone will struggle with lower back pain at some point in their life. Research shows that approximately one in three adults over 60 experience lower back pain.
The good news is there are many steps that can be taken to both reduce the risk of back pain and improve your symptoms. One of the steps is the importance of movement.
Any movement is good movement!! 🏃‍♂️🏊‍♀️
