Alignment: it’s one of those words that pops up a lot especially in yoga, where it can be used to describe the traditional and ‘correct’ placement of the body, as if there is an empirically and universally correct way to hold a pose.

In bodywork too, we use touch to invite the body to bring itself back into alignment via the muscles or the fascia.

However, I like the idea of alignment being like congruence: are we living with awareness in a way that we are proud of? Do we stand by our choices? Are we honouring our boundaries whilst at the same time feeling that we can show up as ourselves? Does alignment have something to do with integrity then?

Maybe it even has to do with whether we are living in alignment with our calling, our divine path?

And from there we can loop back to yoga in the way I understand and teach it- are we practicing our asana in a way that feels safe and useful to us? Are we in alignment with what our bodies are trying to communicate, are we listening with awareness?

It would be neat, wouldn’t it, if we always knew exactly where to place the body, or where the adhesions in the fascia were, or whether we were making the best choices for ourselves? But sometimes it is only by posing the questions and trying stuff out that we can see whether something is going to work.

The practice- the colour of life- is in the imperfections, the missteps, the misalignments. That’s where the learning happens. The getting of our ducks in a row is where the growth occurs. Do you agree?

Hey lovelies, I’ve generally moved over to my Bodmin Yoga page these days, are you following me there? Important autumn question for you all… x

Hi all, I’m just contemplating my autumn schedule, and I’m wondering what workshops you’d like to see- is there one that you keep missing out on? Autumn grounding maybe? Or backbends? Or maybe the inversion/arm balance session? Or, would you be interested in a return of the Sunday brunch sessions…? Just let me know and I’ll take a look at where I can fit it in ✨🧘‍♀️✨ x

There’s still plenty of space at class this week, so I just wanted to say that if you’re not feeling quite ready to return to “normality” I hear you. If you’re anxious about coming out of hiding, I get it. If you’re embarrassed that you’ve put on a few pounds or feel that you’ve maybe lost some of your strength and stamina, I totally relate. If you’ve forgotten how to “do” some of the poses or what they’re called, don’t worry we’ve got you covered. It’s not a test, and there’s no such thing as being good at yoga (I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it!). You are very welcome, with all of your concerns, anxieties, wobbles, fears, because you are welcome in all of your humanity. Yoga is not for robots, it is for complicated, imperfect people. Your presence is valued at class, no matter what you’re bringing to the mat. We will all be happy to see you x

It's back, by popular demand! Take a little bit of time for you each day to help you through the festive season, with a mini practice each morning. I had so much fun with this last year, and I know from the feedback that it really helped set you up for this time of year, so I'm super excited to invite you to check in and breathe with me again each morning in December. Videos delivered via WhatsApp group, unless you need them sent another way. I am unable to offer this for free this year, but if the price is prohibitive then just drop me a message x

Its back for 2020, by popular demand! A five-(ish) minute practice each morning in December, up to Christmas Eve. Help navigate through the festive season by starting your days anchored in your breath and your body. Videos delivered via WhatsApp group, unless you need them emailed instead.

If you care to join me sometime I’ve got a special lockdown offer: four one to ones for £100. Drop me an emoji in the comments if you’re interested and I’ll message you x
