We spent the afternoon celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Sound of Music. We had a quiz including singalong sections and clips from the film that everyone says they love. One resident said she was so very glad she had decided to join us, it was fantastic!

Bodmin Carnival 2025 🥳

Staff joined the carnival this year, representing Castle Hill House Care Home with a theme of 'Cornwall comes to Castle Hill'.

We had a pirate, a bal maiden, a pixie, a chough, a pasty chef, two cream scones and a Cornish carer with elderly gent wearing medals (age 6!)

Team work makes the dream work, as they say and we had the best time together plus had a chance to promote our upcoming theme day 'Cornwall comes to Castle Hill' on Saturday 13th September.

Staff will be representing Castle Hill House this Saturday evening at the Bodmin Carnival. Our entry is called 'CORNWALL COMES TO CASTLE HILL' . If you are free, please come along and give us a cheer! The procession starts at Fair Park 6.45pm and travels through Bodmin to finish at Priory Park.

A few more snapshots of our afternoon:

* A resident testing for quality assurance!
* Glad to have had our tallest member of staff helping but even he had to jump!
* One resident found a pear that looked just like a bird !
* A resting resident joined in from his room by tapping on the window and waving at various times in the afternoon. We called out that we were waving back every time and we were! 👋🥰

We spent yesterday afternoon harvesting our crop of apples, pears and plums from the orchard. The sun didn't shine but we didn't mind - we enjoyed the fresh air and the nature. We are looking forward to what Chef will make with them. 😀🌳🍎🍐👨‍🍳🥧

Residents were invited to take part in a local handicraft show held at the Mount Jubilee Village Hall. Their category was 'Something Special/Joyful'. Take a look at the beautiful entries. Our World Bee Day flower arrangements were very popular, as was the bottle of wine!! The clay entries were personal from each resident, one loves a glass of red wine, one a good game of scrabble and always popular at Castle Hill, the Jaffa cake!! Every entry received a commendation from the judges. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to Mount and Warleggan for inviting us to be part of your event. See you next year! 😃🐝💐🥂
