Considering Direct Cremation? 🕊️

Direct cremation is a straightforward, cost-effective option that's gaining popularity. But is it the right choice for you and your loved ones?

Here are some key points to consider:
No ceremony or attendees – just a private, dignified cremation. Some families feel a sense of loss from not having a communal goodbye.

It's important to discuss this option with your family beforehand as too often, decisions are made without conversation, leaving family members feeling uncertain or distressed.

Take the time to sit down with your loved ones. Understand their preferences and ensure everyone is aligned. When the time comes, choose a local funeral director who knows your community, rather than a distant call centre.

If you change your mind, a local funeral company offers flexibility to add or modify services, unlike many online providers.

A last-minute but brilliant opportunity!

Dominic and Freya were invited to attend a Business and Trade Committee roundtable—one of just five events being held across the UK as part of the government’s plans to shape a new Small Business Strategy following the Autumn Budget 2024.

"We covered a lot of ground—transport, tax, crime—but what really struck me was the shared passion in the room. Despite representing industries as varied as farming, retail, hospitality and manufacturing, every business had something in common: a deep sense of community, a commitment to people, and pride in the places we live and work.

It was inspiring to see just how much potential there is when small businesses come together to have their voices heard."

Thank you Manor Barn Care Home for the warm welcome you gave to James Reynolds on Tuesday.

🌿 A Special Visit to Manor Barn 🌿

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming James Reynolds, Managing Director of Reynolds Funeral Service & Memorial Masons, to Manor Barn.

It was a truly meaningful visit, giving us the opportunity to speak openly about the emotional challenges families face when planning funeral care, and the important, often difficult conversations that come with it.

James kindly provided us with a selection of thoughtful and comforting booklets, which we’ll now be able to share with families to help guide them through these tender moments.

Reflecting on his visit, James shared:
“It was a real pleasure to meet you and your wonderful team. I was deeply touched by the kindness, care, and hospitality extended to me throughout my visit. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely at ease and it was clear to see the dedication and compassion that flows through your home.”

We're incredibly grateful for the support and collaboration, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations together, to better support our families in the future. 🌼 💛

Today, we honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom.🌍✨

Dying Matters week is taking place between 5th - 11th May to encourage conversations about death, dying, and bereavement.

There’s no perfect way to talk about dying, but there are a few things you can do to make it easier:

Choose your moment
It’s not easy to have a serious conversation when you’re in a rush or stressed, so try and find a time when you don’t have to look at the clock and a place where you feel relaxed. It can sometimes help to look for signs another person is happy to talk about the future. It could be you’re talking about retirement plans, for example. Or maybe someone you know, or someone famous, has died.

Start with a question
Questions like ‘Have you ever wondered what would happen if...?’ or 'Do you think we should talk about...?’ can be a more a natural way into a conversation than starting with a statement.

Be reassuring
Phrases like ‘I know that talking about these things is never easy’ and ‘We’ve never talked about this before but...’ can be useful too.

Be honest about how you feel
It helps to be open. There might be laughter or tears, but there’s no reason to be afraid of either response. Make sure you listen to what the other person is saying too, and don’t feel the need to fill silences. They can give people a chance to bring up what’s important to them.
