I was really interested watching the conversations this week around weight loss injections and how people are actually managing day-to-day eating alongside them.
One thing that’s coming up more and more with my clients is this:
their appetite drops right down… but then they’re left thinking “I know I should eat, but I just don’t fancy anything.”
And that’s where things can quietly go a bit wrong.
Because when you’re barely eating, it’s not just about low calories — it’s the nutrients your body still needs every single day to function properly. Energy levels, concentration, muscle health, immune system… all of that still matters, even when weight is coming down.
The medication might reduce the “food noise”, but your body still needs proper fuel.
I’m also speaking to more people who struggle with side effects, and sometimes that’s made worse simply because they’re not getting enough protein, fluids, or key nutrients and electrolytes. When intake drops very low, it can leave you feeling weak, lightheaded, drained or just “not right” — which makes the whole process harder than it needs to be.
That’s why I’m really pleased to see more focus on nutritionally balanced, portion-controlled options that actually support people in this situation. Smaller, manageable portions that are high in protein and fibre, with the right vitamins and minerals included, can make such a difference when full meals just feel too much.
It’s not about pushing yourself to “diet harder”.
It’s about staying well while you lose weight.
And it’s not only for people on injections either — plenty of busy people like having a quick, nutritious option to fall back on instead of skipping meals or grabbing rubbish on the go.
If you’re using weight loss medication (or considering it) and wondering how to make sure you’re still nourishing your body properly, that’s exactly the sort of thing I support my clients with.
