Albany House is a family run residential care home caring for clients suffering from varying degrees of mental illness and mild learning difficulties this includes Schizophrenia, Bi-polar, Dementia, Depression and Autism Spectrum Disorders. It was established in 1984 by Rita Ann Kemp and was initially set up as rest home for elderly clients. In the latter part of the eighties Rita recognized the need to create a homely care setting for younger clients with Mental Health needs, having been encouraged to do so by her son Stephen. Sadly Rita passed away in 2001 though left a lasting impact on the home and the clients who fondly remember her. Pippa Solan, Rita’s daughter is now the proprietor of Albany House continuing the family legacy. Pippa has managed Albany House for the past 18 years, having gained City & Guilds 3250/3 Advanced Management for Care at Highbury College and NVQ level 4 Registered Managers Award. Pippa has now retired from the managerial post . Mrs Sara Hornsey is now the current manager. Sara holds NVQ level 4 Registered Managers Award, and has 20 years experience in a care home setting. Sara worked for 3 years as front line ambulance crew in the West Sussex area. Over 50% care staff are qualified to NVQ 2/QCF standard and above and all staff receive regular training for all aspects of client care and wellbeing. Albany House currently caters for 18 clients (male and female) from the age of 18, though the general age range is 35 +. It is located one minutes walk from the beach and local shops. The Home itself is made up of two large buildings built in the late 1930s which have been subsequently linked together. There is a large garden to the rear of the Home, which clients especially enjoy using during the summer months. Our Mission Statement
