Bollington ‘Walks for Health’ is a
programme of short, easy guided walks in
and around Bollington designed to
encourage new walkers. They provide a
great opportunity to enjoy some exercise
and meet people.
The walks on this programme are weekly on
a Monday morning at 10:15am.
There are different start points around
Bollington and surrounding areas each week
on a rotational basis. All the walks are easy,
approximately 2 miles in length, with no
stiles and only gentle or short slopes/steps
to climb or go down.
Some surfaces and paths we travel on can
be rough, uneven or muddy so we do
recommend you wear sturdy shoes and
appropriate clothing for the weather
conditions. You may like to bring a drink.
There is a small charge of £2.
These walks have been planned and
organised by the Bridgend Centre. A certain
basic level of fitness is required to do these
walks so please ring the Bridgend Centre if
you require any guidance or more
information.

Next Saturday the Bridgend Centre long walk will be 'Up in the Hills above Bollington', travelling up to Jenkin Chapel and Common Barn Farm.

At 8.5 miles with quite a few climbs, the walk does require a certain degree of fitness, but you will be rewarded with (hopefully) fabulous views and (definitely) brilliant company.

10:15am start from the Bridgend Centre. £3.

Bridgend guided walks start at 10:15am from
the Bridgend Centre unless otherwise stated.

The cost is £3 per walk. On a Wednesday this
price includes tea, coffee and biscuits at the
end of the walk.

The walks vary in difficulty & length each week
and so we have a ratings system to provide
information on the difficulty of each one.

If you are unsure of
your level, try a short and easy walk first.

Please bear in mind that the conditions
underfoot will vary depending on the weather.
Please wear suitable footwear & clothing. It is
also advisable to bring a drink on the walks.

Saturday walks are longer and more
challenging than Wednesday walks and take a
full day. The cost is £3.
Please wear suitable footwear and
clothing and bring adequate food and drink for
a full day’s walking. Bring a packed lunch for
the lunch stop.

Dogs are welcome to join us on most walks. If
dogs are not allowed on any of the walks, it will
be indicated on the walk information.

All those taking part do so
at their own risk and should take into
consideration their ability to walk unaided,
bearing in mind the boot rating of the walk and
weather conditions on the day.

Sunday was a mixed bag on the weather but no spirits were dampened, despite some sheltering from the storms taking place! Over 40 miles were covered today by our walkers.

Today’s (8th September) programme is varied and the forecast is for a settled day of sunny intervals and a good temperature for walking:

🥾 10:15am Ramble above Rainow (6 miles)

🥾 10:15am Walk for health (2 miles)

🥾 2:00pm Honesty boxes walk (4.5 miles)

🥾 3:00pm One You (2 miles)

Tonight there is also a free talk on Hill safety (and what to do when it all goes wrong) by a member of Buxton Mountain Rescue 8:00pm at the Dog & Partridge.

All walk info is on our website:
