Day 20 - today for self-care advent I choose to ground myself before doing anything else. Been awake quite early so I had a bath, done a seven minute meditation which keeps anchoring you back to your breath drifting in and out and have come out into my garden to drink my morning brew and feel my feet on the Earth.. it’s actually really calming being out here so early and sitting in the dark, despite it being nearly 730 now! Can you prioritise yourself this morning before you do anything else? What does that look like?

Day 19 - today is one of my client days and I have had a busy one, it feels like a day that I’ve just been chasing my tail all day! So today I choose to finish my workday to pause and breathe. Relaxing my shoulders. Bringing my awareness back into my body and my breath.. remember you can always come back to your breath

Day 18 - today I have quite a rich self care day in amongst seeing my own clients which I’m so grateful for. This morning at the end of Kundalini yoga I felt the benefit of spending a little bit of time gently massaging my face and releasing any tension. We don’t realise sometimes how much tension we hold in our face and for me personally it was the jawline that I could really feel holding tight. Using circular motions all over my face helped release any tension that I didn’t even know was there ! 😬 Honestly, after yoga this morning, I swear my eyes look so much brighter or at least they certainly feel that way. and I look less tired! If you’re sat on the fence about yoga I cannot recommend kundalini yoga enough. Paula is an amazing teacher. I started practising with her beginning of 2023 when I was burnt out, with no reserves for anything. I reckon that has been one of the main things I have done that has supporterd my body to recover and become strong again. I love the breath, the movement, the music, the meditation - I love it all. It has been my saviour, for the last three years. I am so grateful Paula came into my life and perfect timing too!

Day 17 - I have felt a little bit frazzled today. We are coming to the end of term, been Christmas shopping and I’ve got to this time of night and realised I haven’t made any time for myself so I have chosen to escape to my bed for 10 minutes and have a cup of tea in bed and reset, which basically means getting change into my comfy and settling in for the evening. I’m done today how are you?

Day 16 and today is meeting yourself where you are at with the energy that you have right now. I’m sure you have a list of things that you want to get done by certain times, but if you are feeling tired, low energy, maybe you just got your period, maybe you’re due on, whatever is going on for, choose the task that feels suited to how you are feeling and leave the more demanding tasks for tomorrow. It’s amazing how if you give yourself just 10% of what you need it can give you a little boost and can help you get the stuff done that feels more demanding done from a place of ease rather than pushing on through. Gentle is key 💚 Remember it all gets done, do it with ease on you, that’s how I’m rolling today! 🥰

Day 15 - today is a check in with my breath a simple belly breath which you can do at any point during the day, hand on heart, hand on belly and just bring my awareness into my breath, taking it down into my belly. Noticing if my shoulders are getting involved. If so shake them off. I don’t need them right now. Take another relaxing breath in. This brings me back into the present and into a state of calm rest and digest which is what is needed in this final week before the children break up from school! I have my youngest off school today not 100%, which means that I have lost a good block of time to get some jobs done, but that’s okay, I have other time this week and making sure that she is back at school fit and well for the rest of the week is my priority today!

Day 14 - journaling. I have to keep reminding myself that we are in the depths of winter and it’s okay to want everything to feel slow when it feels so busy, outside. Journalling is something I have really resisted mainly because I always feel I’ve got nothing to write, but what I have learnt this year, if I sit down and start with writing…. ‘I don’t know what to write, I don’t know what to write, I don’t know what to write.’ I have noticed that actually I do know, the pen takes over and suddenly it all comes out. Sometimes in frustration. Sometimes in anger. Sometimes in sadness. Sometimes in gratitude. The most important thing is it has allowed my inner being to gently guide my conscious being.. what comes out is what I like’ to call golden nuggets’ ❤️ when I’m here then whatever is bothering ring me I’m able to come from a place of heart rather than response emotion if that makes sense? Anyway, how are you today? Allow your souls to speak ❤️

Day 13 and my daughter and I headed out first thing to look for reindeer then a breakfast picnic by the water, think it helped both of us…. Took the opportunity to wash my crystals too so have come home feeling fully recharged. Nature is amazing 🌲💦🌅🦌

Day 12 of self care….I felt the need to do some alternate nostril breathing to balance myself…. Even the act of checking in to see which nostril I am breathing with at the moment is enough to just bring me into the present. I have so much swimming through my head that I need to do that these little pockets of check-in for me during the day are really helping me to not let myself run away with all the thoughts which ultimately puts me into a state of overwhelm, which is really not helpful and creates stress within my body. Instead I’m noticing that these regular check-ins are keeping me grounded and out of my head. In fact my nine-year-old daughter this morning told me ‘I’m way better this month than I was last month’. What does that say? 😂🙈

Me and my good friend, Caroline, opted for a very chilled and nourishing Christmas get together. We spent the afternoon at cafe, painting a pot, over a brew & mince pie. I don’t think there was any subject left uncovered, but that’s the beauty of a good friendship, we had a giggle and got out of our heads and into our hands - this is self-care I left the café feeling so chilled and even this morning could still feel the benefit of it. Can’t wait to see my final piece ❤️
