Welcome to The Physio and Pilates Hub. A place created to help people get out of pain, move better, feel comfortable, feel safe and supported exercising, to help people understand their bodies and the importance of exercise for health.

It’s a place where Physiotherapy and Pilates overlap, integral to each other difficult to separate.

The Physio Pilates Hub offers; Physiotherapy assessments and treatment for people with musculoskeletal complaints (muscle and or joint problems - stiffness, pain, etc), Pilates classes, 1:1 Physio/Pilates programmes, home visits and studio sessions.

Kaye McGowan founder, Physio and Pilates teacher has over 20 years experience of working with people with injuries, pain, long term health conditions, and following surgery.

Physiotherapy sessions are tailored to the individual, which means if you’ve got 3 different issues that’s fine, if you just want an assessment and a plan that’s ok or if you need support and guidance which extends beyond the often prescribed by other providers “4 sessions” then Kaye can help you with that too.

52a Palmerston St, Bollington, Macclesfield, SK10 5PW is the HQ- here you will find a small but multifunctional physio and pilates studio complete with reformer, pilates chair and tower and lots of other equipment to facilitate movement and strength. Kaye also runs classes in the community, and offers local home visits, virtual/online appointments and private group classes.

If you are looking for a solution to or help with managing aches and pains you can book a discovery call to find out more.

Classes and appointments are available Monday- Friday

Feeling a bit metamorphic at the moment, I’m moving from One Life Pilates to The Physio Pilates Hub.

I’m still in transition at the moment but for those who know and work with me already you will start seeing less ‘One Life Pilates’ and more ‘The Physio Pilates Hub’ the new name better reflects where my journey so far has taken me and the service I am creating.

A new website and booking system is on its way very soon, but right now I’m busy creating new social media pages.

I’m curious, If you follow this page will you head over to my new page and like, follow and share too?

It would be much appreciated and I promise not to spam your page!

Physiotherapy and Pilates for health and well-being

25/01/2023

I came across this ramblings from The Body Coach and had to share.

I love his honesty.

The part about finding the time to workout resonates.

I always feel better after a workout, more energised, clearer minded, but actually getting started is the hardest part.

You can see he is tired here, but knows the workout will make him feel better.

Having that knowing is what I see in my strongest clients, the ones that shown up every time.

Knowing you will feel better after working out, knowing the importance of making time and prioritise time to work out makes the difference.

Where does that knowing come from? For some it has been learnt from childhood, instilled by parents, become so routine that not exercising isn’t even an option maybe it’s been realised through a love of exercise, sport aor PE at school? for others it has been learned the hard way, through mental and physical health struggles where perhaps exercise has been the best ‘medicine’

Consider your environment your influences around you and your relationship with exercise, is it in a good place?

If not, what is the ONE THING you can do such that by doing it exercising will be easier?

Let me introduce you to, the reformer (and also to my wee studio)

I know, I know the video is so damn fast you can’t really appreciate what is going on here, but I know you’ve not got all day and I wanted to show you just a wee snippet of the exercises you can do on the Reformer, there are literally 100s

In this video, you will see

😊 Spinal mobility exercises ( flexion, extension, rotation)

💪Shoulder strengthening and stretches, bicep curls, tricep press.

👍 Abdominal curls and abdominal stability exercises and ab jumps ( say what ?)

🦵leg stretches and strengthening exercises, squats, hip abduction and clams.

Reformer work requires concentration and control. The springs, straps and surfaces give resistance, support and feedback to enhance your workout and provide a different dimension to the more popular matwork exercises.

Have you tried reformer pilates yet?

If you are curious about the reformer and if it could help you, pop your questions below or DM me for more info.

Christmas is a challenging time for many people. It is especially difficult if you are suffering chronic pain because of the busyness of the time of year, expectations, emotions and cold weather to name a few. What can you do?Here are some ideas that I share with the people, as it's a common question....

Did you know it’s bone and joint week this week?

We don’t normally give our bones and joints much thought unless that is they are giving us problems.

Arthritis is just one of many problems that can affect the bones and joints - and unfortunately there are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation about arthritis. A great place for up to date information and advice about arthritis that I direct people to is the Versus Arthritis website.

Check it out.

It can be hard to keep moving when you have arthritis but staying as active as possible can reduce your pain and the symptoms of your condition, and help you to stay independent.

Sad but true.

I’ve heard first hand accounts from several people who have had limited or delayed rehab post illness/injury.

With pressure on hospital beds, shortage of staff, limited resources, ‘rehab’ can often be limited to the bare minimum. Leaving patients struggling, and without support to continue their rehab to achieve their full potential.

It’s not just stroke, heart attack and cancer patients that have been affected, it’s across the board of all patient rehab needs.

Let me know what you think, have you been or do you know people who have been affected by limited rehabilitation resources? Or do you have an account of excellent rehab that has gone above and beyond your expectations?

Stroke, heart attack and cancer patients at risk of being ‘stuck in downward spiral’ without recovery support, say physiotherapists

I always take a holistic approach to joint care, and this ball launcher is something that will definitely help a few people I know with their shoulder problems, (if you have a doggy that loves to retrieve- it will save your shoulders! ) My top recommendation however would be to get any persistent aches and pains you have checked out by a Chartered Physio, they can share other recommendations, advice and exercises to help you get out of pain.

p.s. Physio Appointments available Evaya Beauty Mondays! 🙂
