This striking vienna wall clock came in when the customer wasn’t happy with the previous work done on the clock. The strike activated 2 minutes before it should have and the half hour didn’t work at all. The pin wheel had had new pins put in but the previous repairer hadn’t taken the old broken pins out. They just gouged out the brass around it and dropped a new pin in a blob of solder in the hole they made. You can see the difference from the bad repair to my repair. I didnt want to use solder but once I put the pin back in correctly I hated the look of the gouged brass around it so I filled with solder and filed around it and tidied it up so it looked how it should do. Very happy customer.

This Frankenstein clock has to be one of the worst clocks I’ve worked of. Issue after issue. But got there in the end.

A customer contacted me that collected pollyphon’s. He couldn’t find anyone that could sort the issue of the spring slipping off the arbour gearing. I assumed it would be like a clock spring etc so I agreed to take a look. First time I’ve see that the spring is cut and shaped to fit into a slit. Quite specific. After some examination I managed to get it to fit and wind 25 times fully without slipping off. Job complete. Happy customer
