What an epic World Book Day it has been, and we’re not done yet. We’re very proud to have donated a whopping 691 books to schools as a result of school book sales last week!

Today’s task is counting all the books that were collected from schools yesterday. We count them all to confirm a total number sold and then pair them back up again before adding to the website. We had sets in 10 schools last week, and we’ve got 3 more going out this week so even though World Book Day is over, the work still continues here

So far this week, our team of Bookworms have donated 203 books to local Primary schools who have hosted in school book sales. That means that not only will schools have new books in their libraries and classrooms, over 1000 children have a new book 😁

We’ve still got lots of virtual sales taking place this week and multiple sets of books in schools and more in person sales to run so we’re hoping to share a much bigger number with you all next week once everything has been counted.

If you’ve ordered a book online, or picked up a book from a show then you’ll have been handed a flyer with a raffle ticket attached. If your ticket matches any of these, send us a photo of your ticket as confirmation and then you can choose any book on our website and we’ll post it to you free of charge.

Don’t worry if your ticket hasn’t been drawn, we’ll keep re-entering it every month until it wins

What is your school planning this week for World Book Day? We’d love to hear what amazing things are happening to promote reading and stories this week.

Having spoken to lots of schools over the past couple of weeks, I think my favourite so far is teachers choose a favourite book and describe the book in a few words. Children read all the options and choose which story they’d like to listen to. They can move between rooms and hear extracts of multiple stories throughout the day. I love this idea and hope lots of children hear a chapter of a book and can’t wait to read or hear the rest!
