Introducing Our Horse-Drawn Funeral Service

At Cowburn Funeral Service, we're proud to offer a truly timeless and meaningful way to say goodbye to your loved one — with our horse-drawn funeral service.

With beautiful, purpose-built glass-sided hearses are drawn by graceful and meticulously cared-for horses, driven by experienced coachmen who understand the dignity and respect such a moment deserves. Each carriage is carefully inspected and prepared to provide the highest standard of presentation for the final journey.

Whether you choose classic black, elegant white, silver, or something more unique, we can help create a send-off that reflects the life you’re celebrating.

A horse-drawn funeral offers a peaceful, reflective pace — a reminder of the respect and reverence we hold for those we’re honouring.

We’re very proud to share some lovely news with our community

Cowburn Funeral Service has reopened and while the doors may be opening again, what truly matters is that the heart of Cowburns remains exactly the same. The same familiar faces, the same values, and the same commitment to serving families with care, dignity, and respect.

Ian will still be here, continuing to front funerals at families’ request — a reassuring presence that so many know and trust. Alongside him, his daughter Sophie will be working in the office, ensuring everything is done the Cowburn way, with attention, compassion, and a deep understanding of what families need at such important moments.

Family continuity has always been at the core of Cowburn Funeral Service, and it’s something we hold incredibly close. Being able to carry that forward, generation to generation, means so much — not just to us, but to the community we serve. It’s about familiarity, trust, and knowing you’re in caring hands.
We’re committed to keeping Cowburns rooted in the community for many years to come, always putting people first and ensuring that community remains at the very forefront of everything we do.

Thank you for your continued support — we look forward to being here for you, just as we always have been

Today we pause to remember Holocaust Memorial Day.

We remember the millions of lives lost — men, women, and children whose futures were stolen through hatred, prejudice, and unimaginable cruelty. Each number represents a person, a family, a story that mattered.

At Cowburns, we believe remembrance is not just about looking back, but about carrying forward the lessons of the past. It’s about choosing compassion over indifference, understanding over fear, and standing up against hatred in all its forms.

We honour the victims, listen to the survivors, and commit ourselves to creating a world where dignity, kindness, and humanity always come first.

We remember. We reflect. And we promise never to forget.
